I've still got some left overs from my trip to China. This one was one of our first early morning shoots where we got up at 3:30 am so we could get to this spot for sunrise.

A Monarch and Bumble Bee sharing a Dahlia, best viewed large. I was initially photographing the bee and then the butterfly showed up. They stayed on there long enough for me to take a few shots and then they both left.

The Buçaco Forest ( Portuguese: “Mata Nacional do Buçaco”) in Portugal is a singular place, planted in the first quarter of the seventeenth century. This forest is considered a protected área and includes vegetal species from around the world, some of them gigantic, like the world-famous buffalo cedar (Cupressus lusitanica). It was in this Forest, that the Buçaco battle was fought in 1810, between the Anglo-Portuguese forces commanded by the Duke of Wellington on one side and the French commanded by André Massena on the other, a fact that is remembered in the Buçaco Military Museum.
