Der Wallfahrtsort "Madonna della Corona" befindet sich auf der östlichen Seite des Monte Baldo - Massivs unweit des Gardasees im Veneto, Norditalien. Wie ein Adlerhorst klebt er auf 773m in einer Schwindel erregenden Höhe an einer steil abfallenden Felswand über dem Etschtal.
Es ist ein Ort der sanften Stille und Meditation, zwischen Himmel und Erde schwebend.
The Madonna Statue is located in front of the Immaculate Conception Chapel at the end of Marfa Ridge road. It was built in 1870 with an accompanying chapel which, legend has it, was built by a fisherman in thanks for surviving when his boat capsized. The original chapel was at one point in danger of collapsing so a new one was built in 1961. This is an idyllic spot for those searching for some untouched countryside, and is often used for picnics.

Il santuario della Madonna della Corona è situato nel comune di Ferrara di Monte Baldo, non lontano dalla frazione di Spiazzi di Caprino Veronese, in provincia e diocesi di Verona. Incastonato nella roccia, è situato a ridosso di uno strapiombo a quota 775 metri s.l.m. che si affaccia sulla Val d’Adige.
Il termine Corona si presenta come una variante dei termini trentini e lombardi ( crona , corna , croda e dei veneti cornedo, cornuda. ) Cossicché Madonna della Corona significa Madonna della roccia.
In the stairwell of the listed Art Nouveau apartment house at Penzinger Straße 40 in Vienna's 14th district of Penzing. It was built in 1901-1902, the architect was Karl Fischl (1871-1937). Unfortunately, I have not found out the name of the artist.

Wooden sculpture from the 14th century - described on a(n Italian only) sign next to it as from the school of 'Umbro-Marchigiana', which I would take a guess at means it is made in a style typical of the areas Umbria and Marche at the time. The sculpture was acquired by pope Paul VI (died in 1978) and donated to the church, that is San Giovanni in Laterano, by the current pope, Francis.

Il culto della Madonna era già diffuso a Manarola nel XVI sec. Nel 1861 la Vergine fu solennemente incoronata.
La corona è stata recentemente rubata

This little Portland chapel houses reproductions of numerous Madonna paintings from around the world.
The Shrine of the Madonna della Corona is a place of silence and meditation, extended between heaven and earth, hidden in the heart of the Monte Baldo cliffs. Medieval documents testify that hermits lived in the Monte Baldo area already around the year 1000 and that at least from the second half of the 13th century there was a monastery with a chapel dedicated to St Mary of Monte Baldo.
The church does not actually hang on the sheer face but instead sits on a thin rock shelf that can only be reached by a thin path.
In 1974 the architect Guido Tisato was assigned the job of preparing a project for an overall intervention that foresaw demolishing the existing church, while preserving its most important and significant parts, and the construction of a larger structure. Demolition and reconstruction of the Shrine were carried out from 1975 to 1978.

In the world the barbacan (or barbican) is a medieval defensive structure, which served as a work of support, reinforcement or additional protection to the boundary wall or the actual fortress. The Venetians, travellers, observed and brought these inventions to the city, revisiting them. And from this comes the genius! These support structures were intelligently reinvented for the Venetian houses, but not as defensive works but to enlarge the living spaces without restricting the narrow streets that were already narrow in themselves.
The barbacans are in particular beams, made of wood or stone, which emerge on the first floor from the facade of the building. In this way, the first floor and all the upper floors have a larger usable area than that available on the ground floor.
At the same time, the barbacans provide weather protection for pedestrians and for commercial activities on the ground floor. Ingenious!
The Republic of Venice established a maximum limit for the width of the barbacans. There were essentially two reasons for this. The first was to avoid that the distance between two buildings facing each other was too small because otherwise it favoured the spread of fires, which were very frequent at the time. The second reason was to ensure sufficient brightness and wholesomeness in the case of the narrowest alleys, while avoiding blocking the arrival of sunlight. To this end, in the Rialto area, precisely in Calle della Madonna, a “barbican sample” in Istrian stone was made, still visible today, bearing the inscription “PER LA IVRIDICIOM DI BARBACANI” (FOR THE IVRIDICIOM OF BARBACANI). This sample barbican defined the maximum permitted projection size for this type of structure.
