Bit of rain on the weekend....... Too windy for macro work

EXPLORE #38 (Highest Position)

NOTE: Thanks to Lord V for clarifying that this is a kind of Hylaeus Bee which look a lot like Wasps.

It was quite odd to me that one of these usually very active wasps was just laying there on the flower.....presumably doing nothing of any sort. So I managed to get really close and get a lot of shots. I do hate the fact that the flower bud is blocking a part of the mouth but I also like this shot because this little guy is one of my favorites to shoot in Macro.

So what do you think?

Do I call this Ladybird or Ladybug? I know it's known as both in the English dictionary. But this particular insect has a lot of different names in different countries, mostly because it's one of the most lovable insects there are (besides Butterflies). In Kuwait and surrounding countries for examples.....we call it Om Ali ..... As in Mother of Ali.

If you're from a different country and have a strange or cute name for it let me know. =)

This EVIL Fly was looking at me from above when I was taking some Macro photos two weeks ago, I thought it deserves a photo of it's own! =)

The blue background is the sky, I was taking this photo upwards.

I wanted to take decent Macro shots of Ladybugs for a really long time. But I have finally got one right.....unlike Bees or Flies, ladybugs rarely stay still, so it was hard to me to get the focus right. This is the only shot out of 10 shots that was completely in focus.

As for editing, I sharpened the image a bit, removed the ladybug's shadow and rotated the image so it became horizontal instead of vertical, which is much better.

This was taken last February. I have found that the second most interesting type of photography for me is Macro photography.
