The caterpillar was merely no longer than 1.5 cm. But how gigantic it compares to the little aphid to the left?!

Photo taken on a tripod, I used two exposures. First one the flash was from behind to illuminate the leaf and the somewhat transparent caterpillar, the second flash was in the front too give a good exposure of the body surface.

This hornet must have wandered accidentally into our kitchen. At the moment I took this image, it was drinking from a drop of water on the handle of a sharp knife, lying near the sink.

None of the photos I snapped with my macro lens turned out focused exactly to my liking; perhaps it was the lighting. But, I think it's worth sharing a frame of this little insect.

This weekend for the first time I found a jumping spider (Sitticus pubescens) in the house. Right in front of where I'm typing now. This pic it's actually on my keyboard (as you can probably tell). It would not stay still though, much more active than the ones I've found outside!

I knew in the Autumn you get more spiders in the house but I didn't know I'd find one of these. Anyone else have them in the house?

Right got to start sorting my stuff for Norway!

PS before anybody asks I didn't bring it into the house!

Black ant tending aphids on a bush oak leaf. I've only seen these odd looking aphids on bush oaks sometimes covering the acorn cups. Focus stacked using zerene
