M42 is a reflection/emission nebula in the Orion constellation, around 1350 light years from earth.

With Orion season in full swing here, it's hard not to do a quick M42 session (even though I've imaged it so many times before).

This is a shot of a windflower from Friday's photo session with my new Helios 44-2. Unfortunately there wasn't that much light since sun was already pretty low, but I think that exactly this lack of light creates a certain atmosphere. Hope you like it!

macro work with manual lens Helios (M42) and used macro intermediate ring.

First Orion and first interaction with Pixinsight, this programme is a whole new level!

Shooting in -12 degreec C didn't turn out to be easy, though clear sky and long nights are a big opportunity for good shots.

The Orion nebula taken with a Pentax K3II and the DA*300/4 lens, using the Astrotracer function of the camera to track the stars movement. The image is composed merging 53 shots (10 s each) and 19 dark frames, at 5000 ISO.

Shot with ASI2600MC using Dua Narrow Band filter (Ha OIII).

Edits with Pixinsight and Capture One.

29 frames - 4 minutes each Total 116 minutes exposure.

Took flats and dark flats, but did not improve image, so not used for this image.

I feel like putting down the box of black-and-white films for a while so that to mentally return to Mongolia, to our Kazakhs.

Today is such an important event for the family and all the characters will take the stage in turn. A photographer can be lucky today, I stuck to the camera viewfinder like a curious neighbor to a peephole....

the gray day and red stool in the frame pushes me down the slippery slope of color photography, I put down the Ilford and screw the lens to the body of camera with colorfilm.

Thank you for viewing a rather fluffy looking M42. This image was made by combining images from several of my backyard telescopes and a little help from a friend.
