On the left is Messier 20, also known as the Trifid Nebula (NGC 6514, M20) is a famous star-forming region located in the constellation Sagittarius, with an apparent magnitude of 6.3 and lies at an approximate distance of 5,200 light years from Earth.

 

On the right is Messier 8, also known as the Lagoon Nebula, is a large, bright emission nebula also located in the constellation Sagittarius. The star-forming nebula has an apparent magnitude of 6.0 and lies at a distance of 4,100 light years from Earth.

 

Focal length: Canon 400mm f5.6 (slight crop)

Tracking Mount: Skywatcher EM35-Pro.

Guiding: None

Polar aligned by Polarscope.

Canon EOS 6D (Baader filter modified) with Optolong UHC FF clip-in filter taken from suburbia.

Exposure: 120 x 60sec @ ISO-6400 (RAW)

With calibration frames applied.

Discovered by Charles Messier in 1764, M20 is a star-forming nebula located 9,000 light-years away from Earth in the constellation Sagittarius. Also known as the Trifid Nebula, M20 has an apparent magnitude of 6.3 and can be spotted with a small telescope.
