My electrocardiogram in my recent health check was noted as having a counterclockwise rotation.
As I am not a doctor, I found it difficult to understand what an anticlockwise or counterclockwise ECG meant in terms of the implications for health.
I now believe that sometimes it can indicate heart disease but in general counterclockwise rotation correlates with positive health outcomes, with lower rates of stroke and cardiovascular disease in men and women, and lower mortality in women.
Since some of those who have anti-clockwise rotation may be those that have heart problems, then if you are healthy, or indeed athletic, the news is probably good, and the table above looks especially cheerful (for those with counterclockwise rotation but not the reverse) but I AM NOT A DOCTOR.
"Counterclockwise rotation was significantly inversely associated stroke in men and women combined (HR [Hazard rate]=0.77; 95% CI, 0.62-0.96; P=0.017), CVD [cardiovascular disease] in men and in men and women combined (HR=0.74; 95% CI, 0.59-0.94; P=0.011 in men; HR=0.81; 95% CI, 0.70-0.94; P=0.006 in combined), and total mortality in women (HR=0.87; 95% CI, 0.77-0.98; P=0.023).
