301 Palmer Avenue (1910-1911): In 1875, Charles Horance Lusk, a physician and teacher, owned the property and later constructed the building on the property in 1910. Dr Lusk occupied the house until his death in 1920 and Mrs. Lusk lived in the house until 1923 when Miss Edith M. Hutchinson acquired the property and rented it to various tenants.

The Chinook winds were blowing, warming up the foothills and Rockies west of Calgary. But with gusts predicted at up to 60 km/hr, one had to be careful where to hike. Although the views at the top were beautiful, it wasn't a pretty hike overall, mainly bushwhacking through clearcuts. We walked 5.8 km's return distance, gaining 551 m's in elevation overall, taking 3 hours overall to do so.

During the Ice Age, Canada went through four major glaciations. The last, the Wisconsin Glaciation, saw ice forming over almost all of Canada and as far as the state of Wisconsin in the United States. When the Wisconsin Glacier melted about 12,500 years ago, water trapped under the melting glacier was forced into cracks in the rocks. The marble of Lusk Cave eroded more quickly than surrounding rocks, causing a series of tunnels to form. Since then, the Lusk Stream has continued to shape the cave.
Lusk Cave is in the Philippe Lake area, about five kilometres from Parent Beach. It is an easy hike along trails dotted with interpretation panels. The 10-kilometre round trip takes about four hours to walk.

The famous water tank was yet to be adopted and restored by the town, when a C&NW eastbound freight passed at about 1720 with 35 cars + caboose behind three rebuilt GP9 (4309-4305-4507.) This was likely the freight between Casper, Wyo., and Chadron, Nebr., trundling along at a delicate speed on extremely questionable track (see next image!)
St. Luke's Anglican Church (1873) in Luskville, Quebec, Canada.
It was erected in 1873 and at one time, it was known as "the beacon on the hill".
Luskville was named after Joseph Lusk (1783-1879) who immigrated from Ireland. He was married to Esther (Balmer) Lusk, and both are buried in St. Luke's cemetery.

The effect of shooting with polarizing filter through a polarized window. I have no idea why this rainbow effect happens, as best I can tell it has something to do with...uh...science, I guess. All's I know is I like it.
Give it a try the next time you're on a plane, it's a nice way to pass the time. Works shooting through a lot of car windows too.
Finally, EXPLORED! This is definitely one of my favorite photos I've ever taken, and it's nice to see it getting the recognition it deserves at last :)
From Wikipedia:
The Lusk Water Tower was built in 1886 to provide water for steam locomotives on the former Fremont, Elkhorn and Missouri Valley Railroad, at Lusk, Wyoming. Lusk itself was built by the railroad at the same time. The tank was originally located in the middle of Lusk near the railroad depot and was moved in 1919 to the present site on the east edge of town, adjacent to what became the Chicago and North Western Transportation Company line now owned by Union Pacific.[2]
The wooden tower is round, with a diameter of about 25 feet (7.6 m). The tank is about 25 feet (7.6 m) high on a 25-foot (7.6 m) base. The structure is believed to be composed of Douglas fir, while the tank itself is redwood. It is the only surviving structure of its kind in Wyoming.[2]
The water tower was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.[1]
Aclass 015 roaring pass Rush/Lusk with a Friday morning empty Tara on Friday 28th April 1989, and I notice it's 12 wagons, back in Aclass days 11 wagons was the max permitted, although this is an empty train, probably bringing a wagon back to be added to the other set, the lines through Rush/Lusk were completely relayed in July 1989 and that up siding on the left was disconnected and removed, 3 years later in this photo the siding is gone www.flickr.com/photos/hgricer/46787780981/in/dateposted-f...
