Puffin at Hafnarhólmi in Borgarfjörður eystri in E-Iceland. The small town has set up fenced paths through the birds' nesting grounds on a hilly near-island by the harbour. They claim it is perhaps the best and safest place to see puffins close-up anywhere in the world, in addition to other slightly less cute seabirds. I would say it was a credible claim, the birds are quite used to human presence, and pose happily for cameras.
Latrabjarg, Iceland.
Here is another puffin shot taken with my old crappy camera in Iceland many years ago. Latrabjarg is a 450 m high, very steep cliff and the puffins sat at the very edge. Walking was not safe because of the many rabbit holes and the risk of stumbling and falling down the cliff. So I lay down flat on my stomach and crawled to the edge. Then, lying prone with my hubby sitting on my legs to prevend me from dropping down, I watched the puffins and took the photos with my old 24-105 mm lens.
🇩🇪 Hier kommt noch ein altes Photo, aufgenommen vor vielen Jahren in Island. Latrabjarg ist eine 450 m hohe Steilklippe in den Westfjorden, und die Papageitaucher sitzen am äußersten Rand. Gehen war zu unsicher, denn der Boden war wie ein Schweizer Käse durchlöchert mit Kaninchenbauen - das Risiko zu stolpern und die Klippe herunterzufallen war viel zu groß. Also bin ich auf dem Bauch bis ganz nach vorne gerobbt, mein Mann saß auf meinen Beinen damit ich nicht über Bord ging, und dann habe ich mit meiner alten 24-105 mm Scherbe die Papageitaucher fotografiert.
