This is an early work of mine , taken with just a simple compact digital camera held up to the eyepiece of my telescope. Finally combined in Photoshop.

Taken with NightCap. Long Exposure mode, 14.84 second exposure, 1/3s shutter speed.

July's second full moon

Hier noch ein Zusammenschnitt der Fotos der Mondfinsternis am 27.07.18 im zeitlichen Verlauf von etwa einer Stunde.

Last Friday night I wanted to take an image of the lunar eclipse, but it wasn't visible in the valley where we live. Hence, we decided to drive up the hill next to our house and after waiting a few minutes the clouds moved and the moon emerged. Since we were pretty late I didn't catch the blood moon, but I'm happy that I got an image despite some troubles. First, I'm not yet very familiar with my new Sony A7II and changing settings took me longer than usual. Moreover, my cheap Tamron tele lens doesn't have a tripod collar which means that my ballhead was moving due to the front heavy weight. Anyway, I think it turned out reasonably well. Totale Mondfinsternis am 21. Januar 2019, 05:57 in Bielefeld

 

It was (wet) cold, nearly dark but too dusty.

Es war ziemlich (nass) kalt, dunkel, aber zu dunstig.

 

I was lucky in that we had bright clear skies all night (and a -5 deg C frost) so I was able to watch the eclipse right through.

 

Rather than a full eclipse, I thought I'd post one pre-totality just to be different. My totality shots were not up to the standard of many other of my Flickr friends and I doff my hat to them.

shot after the total eclipse. unfortunately, the time frame for the blood moon was just three minutes due to thunderstorm (see other pic) but just after 11.15 p.m. (end of totality) the clouds disappeared entirely.

A total lunar eclipse occurred on 21 January 2019 UTC. For observers in the Americas, the eclipse took place between the evening of Sunday, 20 January and the early morning hours of Monday, 21 January. For observers in Europe and Africa, the eclipse occurred during the morning of 21 January. The Moon was near its perigee on 21 January and as such can be described as a "supermoon".

The famed blue blood moon tonight, although no lunar eclipse in the UK so the blood bit was irrelevant. At least the skies over London cleared for it.

on the bottom right is the light of an other planet. don't know which one.

It seems in the fall the size of the moon grows exponentially.On this night it was rising right behind a large transmission tower about two miles from our house which created an interesting scene.I only wish the image was MUCH clearer.....

Taken in 2012 this was the first moon mosaic I'd tried using a AZ3 mounted ED80 Refractor with a Canon 500D at prime focus using eyepiece projection. Image size is 5552x3763 pixels.

... total lunar eclipse shot on 3rd of March 2007 in Saarbruecken with Canon 5D, at the telescope's focus by Andrei and myself.

 

the part of the moon in the shadow of earth is red-orange because of earth's atmospheare. the umbral shadow is slightly bluish and the rim gets very bright, because the greatest eclipse is almost over.

 

the hdr version (previous in the photostream) is taken only few minutes later, but the rim became so bright that it was not possible to capture the image of moon with a one shot - here high dynamic range comes in handy! (10 exposures)

Lunar eclipse \ Blood Moon... going to take more now...

Clouds obscured most of the total eclipse last night, but I caught this shot as the clouds parted during the partial eclipse as the earth's shadow subsided and the moon returned to full.

The Moon (Latin: Luna) is Earth's only natural satellite, and is the fifth largest one in the Solar System. The average centre-to-centre distance from the Earth to the Moon is 384,450 km. The side of the Moon that faces Earth is called the near side, and the opposite side the far side. The far side should not be confused with the dark side, which is the hemisphere that is not being illuminated by the Sun at a given moment (this may be the side facing the Earth, as it is once a month during the New Moon phase). The far side of the Moon was first photographed by the Soviet probe Luna 3 in 1959.

A meteoroid is a small sand to boulder-sized particle of debris in the Solar system. The visible path of a meteoroid that enters Earth's atmosphere is a meteor, commonly called a "shooting star" or "falling star".

De maan is de enige natuurlijke maan van de aarde en wordt soms aangeduid met haar Latijnse naam Luna. De grens tussen het verlichte en het onverlichte deel van de maan wordt terminator genoemd. Voor een waarnemer die zich op de maan op de terminator zou bevinden staat de zon op de horizon en gaat onder of komt op. De terminator beweegt langzaam over het maanoppervlak. De terminator heeft een onregelmatig verloop vanwege het bergachtige maanoppervlak. De schaduwen van bv. heuvels en bergen zijn er lang, met als gevolg dat details van het maanoppervlak daar vanaf de aarde goed zichtbaar zijn; een gegeven waar de maanwaarnemers en maanfotografen onder de amateursterrenkundigen dankbaar gebruik van maken.

Gemiddelde afstand tot de aarde: 384.450 km Temperatuur tussen -173 °C en 127 °C.

Een meteoor is een kortstondig lichtspoor aan de hemel dat men ziet wanneer een klein stofdeeltje op ca. 100 km hoogte met een enorme snelheid in de atmosfeer van de Aarde terecht komt. Een deeltje ter grootte van een erwt geeft al een bijzonder heldere lichtstreep.
