Late evening a sunshine lighting up a cumulus cloud formation over the River Forth, a few miles beyond Pan Ha' in the the former town and Royal Burgh of Dysart.

I typically shoot to the south or west from this location, but on this particular morning the show was to the north. Often we get so focused on composition, exposure and the technicals of image making that we forget to observe our surroundings. I usually fall victim to this myself, but I'm trying to be more conscious of what's happening in all directions. Being "in the moment" as they say.

I took a road trip last weekend with Michael Ryan and we joined Jojo Butingan to photograph the green foothills and the snowy peaks of the Sierra Nevada. If you want to see some killer images of this general area make sure to check out Jojo’s work

I haven't been out after dark for some time. Our neighbors must have gotten a new outdoor lighting fixture for Christmas! The effects are ethereal! I think I will be going out after dark more often!
