Louvred doors to the electrical substation for a building, for easy access for maintenance engineers. Everything else seems to be also mounted on this wall - alarm bells, units, triggers. This is the wall to modern residential condos with a supermarket and cafes on the ground floor.
I found some clever little spring clips in the garden shop which I have used to fix my new lights to the kitchen cupboards, so the doors will open and close without any problems.
As low, mood lights go, they work just nicely =]
Perhaps this is my favorite low voltage light,
It is crafted with copper and stain glass, I have this in the front of my house
in a raised bed for flowers, it looks great when lit against the brick walls of the bed,

New-out-of-the-box 2012 model White-Rodgers heating & air conditioning wall thermostat. (We have the older 2007 model still attached to the wall, as my wife likes the user interface better). Here in the Mojave Desert around Memorial Day we push the blue "down" arrow button a lot more :-)

Happy Macro Mondays, Flickrites!
Macro abstract image derived from the procedure of Electro Hydrolysis & organic corpuscolar element merged in highly oxygenated water solution obtained via the electro magnetism at low voltage.
Here the camera used is the lil Nikon Coolpix S33.

Got my slides back from the April 5 running of the IRT vintage trains for the New York Yankees home opener, a team tradition. On Sunday, the NY Transit Museum ran its "Centennials and Cemetaries" Nostalgia Ride from Grand Central to celebrate to 100th anniversary of the opening of Woodlawn station. The train consisted of the Museum's four Lo-V motor cars, some of which turned 100 last year (hence the "Centennials" in the name of the event!).
My last shot is of the cars passing through Fordham Rd station on their way back to Grand Central.

Myself and a few others waited to catch the train as it rose out of the tunnel onto the Jerome Avenue structure el.

I happened to find the train laying up at Mosholu Pkwy during the "Cemetaries" part of the trip.

This is an old mercury-bulb thermostat performing its last trick before going to the EPA-approved recycler for safe handling. Mechanical mercury-bulb thermostats were replaced many years ago by digital thermostats, and more recently wi-fi enabled wireless digital thermostats from Honeywell, White-Rodgers, EcoBee, and Nest, to name a few. I would estimate this thermostat dates back to the late 70s.

It's Yankees Opening Day, and the tradition of operating the IRT Lo-Vs express from Grand Central directly to 161st Street/Yankee Stadium continues.
