A long exposure, landscape image of the rocky coastline of Portknockie in Morayshire, Scotland, at low tide and sunset.
In June 1944 this was the place where the British of Gold Beach connected with the Americans of Omaha Beach.
A bright day after Christmas brings out the crowds. Mumbles head lighthouse and Pier as backdrop on the horizon. (The tide goes out a very long way.)
Chapel Porth Beach is an amazingly wide beach on low tide and you can go into the dark caves and grottos. When the tide is coming in, you should be very quick, though, as the tide is several meters high.
Chapel Porth Beach ist bei Ebbe ein irre breiter Stand und man kann in die dunklen Höhlen gehen. Bei eintretender Flut gilt es aber sich sehr zu sputen, weil sie einige Meter hoch und sehr schnell ist.
In every outthrust headland, in every curving beach, in every grain of sand there is the story of the earth.

Jericho Beach at low tide today
I had to take this shot to get my point across regarding man being just a speck in nature. This is a stitched panorama from 8 single shots. It is featuring once more my favourite fjord on the Lofoten islands.

Next to a water sewage treatment facility and along an old logging community. At low tide not only could one see the many dead tree stumps and logs, but there where lots of tires and shopping carts as well.

Have been trawling through my trash bin, glad I didn't empty it.

this was after sunrise when the tide was low and exposed some old posts from a groyne or something....
I'm starting to appreciate low tide photography a bit more as you can get some really nice sand reflections and textures. I messed up twice; firstly arriving a bit too late for this lovely light, this was actually a quick arrival shot to make sure I had something in the bag.
By the time I positioned myself in front of some interesting rocks and attached my filters the light had all disappeared with next to no colour. It was so uninspiring that I called it quits but then when I got home of course the sky was full of pink streaks 🙈ðŸ˜
Imagine you are on a dream beach in the summer and have it alone for you...
Reminiscent of the Caribbean, a manless sandy beach on the Isle of Harris, outer Hebrides.

Going through some old raw files for a small project I'm working on, I came across this shot of what remains of the West Pier during a low tide at sunset. Sometimes I feel having an amazing location like this on my doorstep is too easy and I end up photographing further afield but I feel a return at low tide is due soon.
Really enjoying Florida's shore birds...wondering how the wildlife has survived Hurricane Irma...
Dowitchers, I believe....correct me if I'm wrong.
