Being the weather this afternoon was pretty cruddy, I decided to take a drive up to Eagan to try ZZQ Smokehouse.
The beef brisket is excellent, it was worth the drive

This was originally done for a magazine which has closed down with no signs of restarted, such a shame.
But the pictures were really good and I still wanted to share them, here is one of the best ones.
The magazine wanted some spesific requirements about composition, leaving a lot of negative space for text and such.

Here's a blast from the past.
Simeon B. Ginyard's has had this baby (Lil' Super Soul) for 40 years and brought her out of it's garage to show her off again. The car's paint has suffered from weather & father time but when his busy schedule allows the car will be restored to her ISCA (International Show Car Association) glory days.
Here is the sauce recipe that I used for the beans
1/2 cup dark molasses
◦ 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
◦ 1/4 cup butter
◦ 1/4 cup corn oil
◦ 1/2 cup orange juice
◦ 1/2 cup good cider vinegar
◦ 1 cup good bourbon plus one good drink for the cook
◦ 3/4 cup catsup
◦ 2 tablespoons fresh minced garlic
◦ 2 yellow onions minced
◦ 1/4 cup dark brown sugar
◦ 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 Pound Nerstrand Meats Pepper Bacon (Diced)
Mix all together and let cook on low heat for about 1/2 hour to 1 hour. Taste add red pepper, black pepper and salt to your taste. Let set over night and reheat before serving
This morning I mixed all of the ingredients together (Except the Bacon) and let cool. Once the sauce was cool I dumped in 3 cans of white beans and set in the refrigerator for about 6 hours. After I removed them from the frig I sautéed a pound of bacon and added the drained bacon to the beans. I then took the pan to the grill and let them cook on the grill to reduced and thickened. It turned out wonderful!
Note: Whenever I use bacon in a recipe, I always use pepper bacon from Nerstrand Meats out of Nerstrand Minnesota. I consider this the "Holy Grail" of bacon. I have yet to find a bacon that has topped the quality of this bacon. If you can ever get a package of this bacon, buy it at all costs, you will not be dissapointed
Not sure why this RCAF CC-130 was flying low and slow with flaps down over our locale today but I had enough time to pull off the road, change lenses, get out of the car, and still had to wait for it to fly overhead and grab a quick shot as it went by.
