This is the awesome candle holder I got at the Allentown Art Festival this year. It's kinda the epitome of reminding myself to love myself on all the various levels I have yet to learn that lesson on.

i just realized it's been forever since i updated a little something on my life here.
things have been going okay, i'm quittin Tim Horton's and starting a new job at a local Delta Sonic. the money's way better but we'll see about the hours.
Besides that, everything's pretty decent. there's been some family issues here and there, but who doesn't have those bumps in the road?
i took this picture because lately the only problems i've had to deal with were battles with myself, with me being indecisive and forgetful and annoying to friends. i've gotten really aggreivated with myself, and i just need to slow things down, put it all in perspective, and start loving myself again. people make mistakes. we're only human.

"Doubly Offensive"
Today's portrait is a double self-portrait. At the beginning of this "session", I was shooting against a white background, and had intended to place a second exposure of my face in the shadow of the first exposure. The concept was SOOOOO clear in my head. Unfortunately, my head is not very smart, and the concept was not possible as I had envisioned it. So, I brought in the black seamless, and immediately realized that this might actually work. After a change of clothes and starting an argument with myself (politics, probably), we (I) ended up with this image. The lighting was painfully simple. There is a snooted speedlight, up very high to the left of camera. That's it. The reason for the setup was that I had intended to create hard, crisp shadows on the white background. When I switched the background, I just stuck withe same lighting. Should I do this again, I would play a lot more with the lighting. For the record, the hillbilly was clearly sucker-punched by the preppy guy. Thanks for popping in!!

I love my big ass, always messy, naturally curly, always in my face, cannot be tamed without a flat iron & tons of product, bigger-than-life volume hair. I have actually had s/o's tell me they dislike my hair! And I should straighten it more often. Well, to that, I say "fuck off!". My hair is the most ethnic part of me. My mother, my titi's, my abuelita, all have this wild ass hair and I wouldn't trade it for anything.
now I am off to the gym.
Something I need to say to myself more often. This reminder on a tree in the park today was welcomed graffiti. I dont normally think of it as being a positive thing... but inspiration comes from the oddest places sometimes. Who am I to question the how or where?
