According to the theory or lore, mainly black "woolly bear" worms predict a harsher winter. A mostly brown worm signifies a milder winter. If brown at the head with more black near the tail, it means a winter that starts mild and ends harshly. After having a good look at this fuzzy woolly worm while was sleeping, I noted that he/she had a big brown band on the middle. So according with this weather worm, we're going to have a moderate winter in Pennsylvania. This worm is the caterpillar of the Isabella tiger moth and good that it wasn't a bear that I found! 😊

Die meisten Bewohner der Hallig Oland und viele auf Langeneß verfügen über eine eigene Lore womit sie relativ schnell und zuverlässig zum Festland fahren können.
Vrijwel alle bewoners van Hallig Oland en de meeste van Langenß hebben een "Lore". Met de "Lore" hebben ze een relatief snelle en betrouwbare mogelijkheid om via de Lorendam het vasteland te bereiken.
Nearly all inhabitants of Hallig Oland and many of Langenß have a "Lore". With the "Lore" they can get from their Hallig to the mainland in a relative fast and reliable way.
Presque tous les inhabitants du Hallig Oland et le plupart des inhabitants de Langeneß possèdent une "Lore", Avec cette Lore ils peuvent conduire dans une mode relativement vite et fiable de leur Hallig vers le continent.

The bright backdrop of a cafe in the UniSA foyer, seen through the black metal security screen pulled around the counter perimeter, like a porous see through shower curtain.
This White-lored Gnatcatcher seemed to be hanging out with the Rufous-naped Wrens on our first day in Costa Rica. I think both species had a big dose of caffeine just before we arrived or maybe we were just still a little sluggish from the flight but I did feel fortunate to catch this shot among the chaos of an intense start to the trip.

After 3 days of searching, we finally found a male. Naturally it arrived while we were having lunch in the midday heat (39C). Quickly we dropped our sandwiches and grabbed the camera, a few shots through the leaves and it was gone. Not the best shot, but they are rare. Satisfied we finished lunch and headed 1.5 hours back to the hotel for a cooler environment.
… a fruit and seed eater, as the remaining delicacies of the last meal on its bill reveal. They are widespread from Eastern Mexico to Equador and Venezuela, but they are more regional than other parrot species in their range. Often seen in pairs (this one had a partner too, but it didn‘t quite make the picture) or groups, calling while flying. Many of these birds are unfortunately also held in captivity, which is why one of the dangers they face is the risk of being taken into captivity.

I photographed this Ochre-lored Flatbill (Tolmomyias flaviventris) at Finca la Reserva de Ecoflora, near Monterrey in Casanare, Colombia. This small yellow flycatcher feeds mostly in the forest canopy on a wide variety of insects, and on Trinidad and Tobago it also eats berries. Its nest is a pear-shaped bag with an entrance tube that leads up to near the bottom. In Colombia it lives up to about 800 meters. IUCN lists it as Least Concern.
I photographed it with a Canon R5 and the RF 800mm f/11 plus the RF 1.4x extender, at 1/90 sec, f/16, ISO 1600, +1 EV. Monterrey, in the foothills of the Eastern Cordillera about 105 kilometers from Yopal, was founded on September 6, 1953, and became a municipality in 1960.

Pixie Lore
Pixies dwell in the twilight, between day and night, between the heavens and the earth, between the conscious and the unconscious... where all things are possible, where our past and future meet, where we meet ourselves coming back. When we dance with the pixies, we dance with the reflections of our true selves and the true nature of the world.
Pixies love to dance. Their music is the most haunting and beautiful ever heard by human ears.
