One from the mid-Summer 2010 archives. Same as previous one, except with other tones which I personally dig far more. I'm still struggling with Flickr's ever annoying sharpening algorhythm, which stinks like rotten meat on a shiny summer day. At least on low-res images it leaves these ever nasty artefacts which you can see on the wheat and treetops for instance.. But who cares anyway :)

Syncopation is a general term for a disturbance or interruption of the regular flow of rhythm; a placement of rhythmic stresses or accents where they wouldn't normally occur.
This digital abstract was inspired by the article I was reading about displacements of rhythm while listening to one of my favorite artists Armon Tobin.

Shot yesterday afternoon while taking a walk in the woods with my two kids and my better half.
This couple was walking towards us and I just couldn't resist.. :)

A small update of a previous version with a little bit more detail in the background.

Still very excited about this. Actually it's a speedpainting from scratch, without reference material. I just started with a very small thumbnail sized sketch on a piece of paper. With a couple of standard brushes I started to draw the contours on an empty canvas in Photoshop. Now that the composition is almost definite, I'd still like to add more detail.
But at least the 15 minutes of stage one became a very important eye opener for me. I realized that I'm being able to sculpt anything I want to from an empty canvas again, like I was being able to in my childhood years just with an old pencil or ballpoint and a piece of paper. Besides the art of sketching logos on paper, Ironically I seem to have lost pretty much of these drawing skills since I became a graphics designer. Anyway this quick and dirty draft probably is one of the most important artistic breakthrough I've had throughout this year.
Another nice thing that pops into mind is that my 4y old daughter seems to have inherited at least some of the artistic abilities. Like a lot of kids she's always drawing. In fact, when she noticed the bare contours of this digital painting she pretty much understood were I was going to. I also noticed that she'd never be down in the dumps during a long or even a very short car trip. I've never seen a kid sitting in a car for a few hours without being bored to death. No matter how often we went out by car during our vacation, she just took her pencils and a sketchbook and started to draw pretty much uninterruptedly, without paying attention to the beautiful rolling mountain scapes presented from all directions :)
For now I'm running out of time, but I'll continue to paint in more detail and keep close attention to the light and its direction. Of course I'll post the final result when it's been finished.
Anyway, thanks for viewing. Please keep in mind that this still hasn't been finished yet, but in the meantime I just wanted to share my excitement with you guys :P

I can't help but feel certain this idea has been done, I have yet to find one online this morning, been on Logopond, Google etc.
In any case, it's just a concept idea. Wanted to explore the best way to create dual meaning in this symbol, just enough of 'heart' and just enough of 'ampersand'.

Just throwing in an old-school abstract which I very much enjoyed creating in those good old days. If you don't like it, I consider it as a great compliment too!
No mister nice guy here any longer, hence the title of this work, not only reflecting its aesthetics :)
To some it may sound like a frustration, but actually I always think this way. I'm an optimistic pessimist :/
Because I'm just asking myself lately why the hell on earth I'm still paying a fucking annual fee just to get a worthless Pro status and a bunch of even more worthless badges and automatic comments, which I would have received with a free account as well.
Yeah I know Flickr isn't the ideal place for art like this and that and therefore it hardly gets noticed. Looking at the page-views you know what I mean. Nearly 10% of viewers actually bother leave a word or two. This becomes even more rediculous considering the amount of 3,119 souls who actually have me in their contact-lists for whatever reason!
Given the latest rumors about Flickr abandons those with a certain kind of art and doesn't allow direct potentially links to sell our art anymore, it's more clear that Flickr is all about commerce, financial potential, hypocritical prudishness and of course about the next fucking boring golden sunset picture out of its billions from yet another explore-whore. It has never been about Art, because there are better places for that. But hey, I get the feeling that Flickr is fucking brain-dead anyway, no?
