There is no statue of Lincoln in the park. Instead you will find this outsized replica of the cabin where he was born inside the memorial. (The original is in the Chicago Historical Society.)
Sadly the Colas grids no longer appear to be used on the logs trains to Chirk but at least there is some cancelation that they have been replaced by Class 60 tugs. In this scene 56094 is seen departing Briton Ferry (Llansawel) in South Wales working the Baglan Bay - Chirk loaded timber service, 6Z51. A picturesque location on a beautiful October day with a view of Mynydd Marchywel , the mountain peak, in the background .
A composition from our visit to Angmering woods. We were walking down the track when the sun shone momentarily and bathed the pile of logs in sunlight . The track made a nice lead down to the tree and the logs beneath it .
Running a day late due to unloading delays at Chirk (thanks for the info Rich), 60076 heads south past Stokesay Castle with 6V54 to Baglan Bay, South Wales to pick up more logs to make kitchens and the like, Sunday 31.5.15

It may have been a little tricky to reach that trophy bite. but this Red-headed Woodpecker did not hesitate when he flew up to this feeder.
The seed log, or what's left of it, still has a lot to offer. And some birds, like Mr. Red Head, know exactly where the best bites can be found. It's a well-kept secret, but easily found if you know where to look.
Now to fly off with that yummy chunk of goodness before anyone sees! But where he's taking it, we can only guess.

After all the tries to get a Victorian on the water got a log home on a lake on one of my first shots so wheeee!

There is always lots of felling in this area of France where the forests and woodland are dense with trees. The recent storms here have left lots of uprooted trees that im sure can be used as firewood for the winter months.
More log cabin play--I went with primaries this time, and a mix of prints and solids. I'm thinking this is going to morph into a small blanket or play mat for a friend's new baby.

The trees that are being loaded onto this tractor trailer were likely levelled during the derecho that swept through the Ottawa area last May. I spoke with the truck operator who told me that these logs were destined to be processed at a saw mill some 5.5 hours away, in the Beauce region of Québec.

In late January 2019, the same log that harboured two Timber Rattlesnakes and one Cottonmouth in December had the same larger Timber Rattlesnake and two Cottonmouths! A later peek under the log that same day showed all three snakes coiled together.
This beautiful old church is in the tiny village of Copper Center, Alaska. I think that the log construction is very interesting, from the foundation; to the old wooden cross on the top of the steeple.

"The historic log structure from the late 1700s was built in an area possibly known as Sapling Grove in Johnson County, Mountain City, Tn. In the late 1950's it was moved to Elizabethton where it was part of a tourist attraction which included a house that belonged to Andrew Johnson (seventeenth president of the United States). The church was purchased and donated to First Baptist by JoAnn Steele in memory of her husband, John H. Steele.
It was relocated to Fellowship Park after spending a year in her barn. JoAnn has been the driving force of "re-creating" this historic church. In features antique handmade pews and handmade furniture from the Steele family. The doors were made from wood removed from their barn which over a hundred years old. The floors came from trees cut and sawed on their farm by her husband. Most of the hardware is original and made by a blacksmith."

The strength of the ends is amazing under the circumstances. I bet that the construction was faulty around the break, while acknowledging the obvious that these barns cannot stand forever.
This was the fanciest of the log cabins on this property, the only one with tongue and groove construction.
Quite a few of the abandoned farm buildings in this area of Manitoba are made of logs.

With originally 7 turtles taking up space on this sunken log, and one diving off, I guess you could say it was logged out.

Asà pues, sabiendo que dicho tren llevaba limitación de velocidad, decidimos darle caza con los últimos rayos de sol a su paso por Orón, pocos metros antes de tomar la bifurcación Rioja para proseguir su camino hacia ConstantÃ, lo que nos permitió volver a fotografiarlo a su paso por Haro.
En la foto podemos observar a la bitrac 601-004 remolcando a la impoluta 601-001, que aún mantiene los logos de Fesur y estaba recién salida de los talleres de León, a cargo de una pequeña composición de tolvas vacÃas de Cereal procedentes de Taboada. 20-5-2019.
