Masig (york) to Maer islands is a cruise of about 70km due east. Mostly unsurveyed, so slow speed and vigilance were essential. We had to back of several times to prevent dinting the coral… and our vessel! When we reached the group of 3 islands the a spectacular view befell us …. Marvellous steep rugged volcanic geology so different from al the sand cay islands we had become accustomed to of late. We found a tolerable anchorage behind Wainer Island and had fun shooting some pics a sunset.
I've built this little log cabin in Blender. I imagined a scene in a forest somewhere, and a log cabin always comes in handy.

Fireplace ready for installation of our new gas log. The tile that fell into the ash pit has been retrieved and returned to its rightful place with the help of a little thinset.
2 fishing mackerel fishing boats anchor each season right on the edge of the cay and fish it for 4- 5 months of the year. Very traditional with dories trolling 1 lure and 2 garfish. They fish 2 sessions a day ….6am till 8 am and 4.30pm till dark. Its amazing to see them head of in their little put puts and come back in a couple of hours with 20 – 40 mackerel. Very hard workers in a very isolated location. We were the first recreational boat they had seen for 4 years !!
They meet the mother ship each fortnight to off load their catch and pick up supplies.

After making my first quilt, this Log Cabin quilt was my next project in line. It was a major task and after piecing this one I decided I never wanted to make another quilt that was going to be larger than a twin size quilt.!
The logs finished at 7/8" wide.
There are 17 logs in each block.
Each Block is 7 7/8" square (finished)
There is a total of 196 blocks. (set 14 across X 14 down)
The quilt measures 110" x 110" (without the red border)
It has 3,332 "log pieces" in the quilt.
I completed piecing it in about 3 months
Sadly I have not had it quilted yet but it was completed around the year 2000.
