Am Abend des 24.04.2020 warteten LEG 132 158 und o68 (hatten wir doch erst) im Hafen Straubing. Der DGS91055 war bereits fertig untersucht und gebremst, aber eine bestimmte Zuarbeit von DB Netz war noch offen.
Anschließend gelangen in Regensburg Ost noch ein paar schöne Aufnahmen mit 362 943. Danach ging es zurück nach Mannheim, weil ich morgens eine wichtige Vorlesung hatte.

My twinner has finally decided to grace SL with her presence once more... so we needed to update her AND get a new photo.
So of course, she now looks like the shadow to my little ray of sunshine. Also looking back at older photos with her, I think Extra has been used in almost all of them so why not continue the streak?!

My first arch of the season.
This was a lovely place to view the night sky, on a very steep paddock at the top of the hill overlooking the whole of the valley. The view across Golden Valley is absolutely beautiful.
There were Llamas (bottom right corner you can see their long necks!) and sheep in the next paddock bedded down for the night and I was surprised how quiet they were as I was shooting over towards the South and South East.
There is a very busy road at the bottom of the hill, and throughout the night road trains passed every few minutes making their way along Route One. This made me think of all the drivers of the road trains keeping Australia going throughout the pandemic and I felt immensely grateful to them for that.
I kept my exposures to f/2.8 90s ISO640, reason being I might be midway through taking an exposure and didn't want to loose any time so I cupped my hands over the lens a number of times to counter passing road trains.
The only blot on the landscape from an astro point of view is the light pollution from Greenbushes mine site, the world's largest hard-rock lithium mine. This is a pity as apart from that the sky is Bortle 2. The light pollution adds to difficulties in POST most frames I had to apply vignetting to counteract the difference in dynamic range.
