WONDERFUL FACTS - The Wild Water Buffalo (Bubalus arnee) - also called Asian Buffalo, Asiatic Buffalo and Wild Asian Buffalo.
Is a large bovine native to the Indian Subcontinent and Southeast Asia.
It has been listed as Endangered in the IUCN Red List since 1986, as the remaining population totals less than 4,000.
A population decline of at least 50% over the last three generations (24–30 years) is projected to continue.
The global population has been estimated at 3,400 individuals, of which 3,100 (91%) live in India, mostly in Assam.
The wild water buffalo is the probable ancestor of the domestic water buffalo

The second item on my bucket list - a bucket of bolts. According to www.urbandictionary.com, a bucket of bolts is a machine that is old, run-down, or worn out. I think this old truck qualifies!

Bare metal bodywork is always a winner in my book, and this 1958 Lister Chevrolet Knobbly is right up there in my eyes. Another low down point of view shot along the flank, highlighting those beautiful curves.

Ralston's Cairn, Glencoe, Scotland
As I’m shortly to set off for a 2 week trip to Glencoe & Isle of Skye I thought I’d post an image I took in Glencoe a little over a year ago.
I’d seen photos of the Ralston Cairn on Flickr and saw a YouTube vlog on it a few years ago so I knew roughly where it was but had not actually tried to find it before. It’s one of those ‘honeypot’ images that divides opinions and given the main subject of the image is man-made even I wondered about shooting it. However, as I’d never shot it before I thought it was worth tracking down and seeing if there might be a nice sunset too. Alas there was nothing going on in the sky so I just fiddled around with various focus-bracketed compositions and chose this. No points for originality but it will do for me and it’s crossed off my list of Glencoe shots…..unless I’m in the area and it looks like a decent sky will be likely. Who knows, might happen this month when I’m up there although I want to seek out a few new places as well as some ‘tried-and-tested’ ones. If I’m absent until later in March you know why!
The Ralston Cairn is dedicated to Ralston Claud Muir, a train driver on the West Highland Line and avid hiker, especially within the Glencoe Glen.
Sadly Ralston fell ill on Christmas day 1999 and died 16 days later on 10 January 2000 from multiple organ failure caused by Leukaemia. He was only 32 years old.
The Glencoe Glen was his favourite place to hike and his friends and/family thought it fitting to erect an everlasting monument to his memory. His ashes are also interred at this spot. His friends and family still visit the monument, often with a wee dram of whisky to toast to his memory.

The Victoria Suite in Smethwick, West Midlands, is an imposing Grade II listed building comprising of a former cinema/bingo hall constructed in 1930 predominantly of brick and containing many original Art Deco features with the accommodation centred around a large auditorium and banqueting hall.
A quick phone snap as we were passing today. I'll replace it when I have remembered to bring my main camera with me. Later: now replaced!
This is St Michael's Church at the tiny village of Haselbech in Northamptonshire. It is Grade II*-listed and parts of it date from the 13th and 14th centuries. The beautiful west tower dates from around 1500. I always find it remarkable how so many relatively small English villages have beautiful medieval churches. The villages were clearly very much bigger in medieval times, and in the case of Haselbech this is confirmed at:
The Grade I Listed All Saints Church, Church Street, Gainsborough, West Lindsey, Lincolnshire.
The original medieval Church of All Saints fell into disrepair after the Civil War, and in 1736 it was demolished to make way for a new church. The new Parish Church was completed in 1748 with a mix of perpendicular Gothic and Classical Revival styles.
All that remains of the Medieval church is the west tower, 90 feet high, and housing eight bells. A monument to Richard Rollett, master sailmaker on Captain James Cook's second voyage in 1824, is in the porch.

Hornby Castle in North Lancashire is now more of a country house that was developed from a medieval castle. The Grade I-listed building overlooks the village of Hornby in the Lune Valley in the north of the county.
The castle originally dates from the 13th century but virtually nothing from that period is now left. The polygonal tower dates from the 16th century.
During the English Civil War the castle was captured and subsequently occupied in 1648 by the Duke of Hamilton and his Scottish army. The castle then changed hands a number of times over the subsequent years. Much of the structure was rebuilt between 1847 and 1850, though the older parts, including the polygonal tower, were retained. Further additions and alterations were made later in the 19th century.

The Ribblehead Viaduct or Batty Moss Viaduct carries the Settle–Carlisle railway across Batty Moss in the Ribble Valley at Ribblehead, in North Yorkshire, England. The viaduct, built by the Midland Railway, is 28 miles (45 km) north-west of Skipton and 26 miles (42 km) south-east of Kendal. It is a Grade II* listed structure. Ribblehead Viaduct is the longest and the third tallest structure on the Settle–Carlisle line.
The viaduct was designed by John Sydney Crossley, chief engineer of the Midland Railway, who was responsible for the design and construction of all major structures along the line. The viaduct was necessitated by the challenging terrain of the route. Construction began in late 1869. It necessitated a large workforce, up to 2,300 men, most of whom lived in shanty towns set up near its base. Over 100 men lost their lives during its construction. The Settle to Carlisle line was the last main railway in Britain to be constructed primarily with manual labour.
By the end of 1874, the last stone of the structure had been laid; on 1 May 1876, the Settle–Carlisle line was opened for passenger services. During the 1980s, British Rail proposed closing the line. In 1989, after lobbying by the public against closure, it was announced that the line would be retained. Since the 1980s, the viaduct has had multiple repairs and restorations and the lines relaid as a single track. The land underneath and around the viaduct is a scheduled ancient monument; the remains of the construction camp and navvy settlements (Batty Wife Hole, Sebastopol, and Belgravia) are located there.
This is the seafront, otherwise known as The Cleave, at Kingsand on the Rame Peninsula in the far south-east of Cornwall. The Devonport Inn is a delightful Grade II-listed pub dating originally from around 1740 (though with subsequent alterations) that is popular with locals and visitors alike. The seafront overlooks Plymouth Sound, and quite often gets battered by winter gales. For that reason most of the buildings along here have window shutters and flood protectors on the doors.
Needle's Eye is a 14-metre (46 ft) pyramid Grade II* listed building which is situated in Wentworth, South Yorkshire in northern England. Needle's Eye is one of several follies in and around Wentworth Woodhouse park; the others include Hoober Stand and Keppel's Column.

Normally, the High Street will be the main shopping street in the centre of town, but from this angle the High Street in Cromer looks more like a back street. On the right, the King's Head pub is Grade II-listed and dates from the early 1800s. In the centre is the extremely tall (160') west tower of the parish Church of St Peter & St Paul, which acts as a famous landmark to ships out at sea. The church is Grade I-listed and dates from the 15th century, with substantial rebuilding in the 19th century.
Cromer is notable as a traditional seaside resort and for the Cromer crab, which forms the major source of income for local fishermen.

The North Euston Hotel is a hotel in Fleetwood, Lancashire, England. It was built 1840–41, to a design by Decimus Burton.
