Lisbon Port Panorama. A 7 image panorama stitched together with photoshop.

This shot was taken at sunset from the rooftop of a building in Lisbon’s historic city center.

It provides a view of the beautiful hillside’s colourful buildings that are so typical of the picturesque neighbourhoods of Alfama and Castelo.

Lisbon’s castle stands on top and all the image is enveloped on a beautiful sunset’s golden light.

From this perspective you have a view over the old downtown commercial area (known as “Baixa”) which is nowadays recovering its beauty with the maintenance works done on old buildings. In the distance you can see the top of the arch overlooking the Praça do Comércio and the river.

Being Lisbon my home town, my opinion is obviously biased, but I find this city, its light and ambience truly magnificent.

of St. Georges castle, Lisbon (Castelo de São Jorge)

Taken during a great couple of hours exploring this wonderful site. It dates from the 6th century AD, but was largely destoyed in the earthquake of 1755 and rebuilt in the 1940s..

(I didn't count the steps :-) but it felt like that many)

This shot was taken from the rooftop of a building in Lisbon’s historic city enter. On the top of the hill, overlooking the city, stands the castle.

These old yellow trams in Lisbon were everywhere.

The Santa Justa Lift was opened on July 10, 1902 and is the only vertical lift in Lisbon providing a public service. It is a work of architect Raoul Mesnier du Ponsard, with a cast iron structure, enriched with filigree. Now a National Monument.

Lisbon’s trams are characteristic for the city streetscape. The historic yellow "electricos" rattle and screech through the narrow streets of Lisbon. The scenic and iconic route is the 28E, which crosses the Alfama district.

However, what sounds and looks kinda romantic is a actually quite weird in reality and an image of the excesses of today's mass tourism. If you want to ride the 28E tram during normal daytime hours, you need to queue for ~2 hours to get on board...

somewhere in Benfica... I love the shapes and forms that populate the architecture of Lisbon... there are surprises everywhere...
