I'm used to admire every day one plant of these roses well arranged in the façade of their home... But I got a special invite at their patio and garden and couldn't believe my eyes... They have around 100 more plants of this amazing variety of roses! My eyes couldn't find rest...

I have another neighbor, called Maria Rosa who is also passionate of roses and collects & grows many different species on her wide yard on top of a hill. Can't wait to finalize a visit at her roses sancturary!

Another spontaneous pose by the three sweet little Lovebird sisters of the "Greens" family, third brood by the couple in love Luce & Blu.

Photographed in-door in natural daylight in a sort of straw basket that I have been using as baby cot and carrier to carry them around the house until 5 days ago when they were not yet able to fly. But now they can fly !

... And, look at the lil tips of their tails: they're truly electric blue !

While the first plant with three flowers is withering, I harried up shooting the second plant just blossomed. I left in the framing the third flower of the first bloom too, fading away but still nice. A sun ray has illuminated the pistils of a flower just fallen, so, I left them for the nice natural effect.

4 large flowers (ca. 10/15cm of ø each!) in a sharp Super macro, in natural morning light and no cut-out cropping, shot yesterday with my Fujifilm XS-1.

Light Painting Still Life

shot outdoor in natural sunset light, made with the Marostican Cherries, big heart shaped late variety called "Duroni", a deep bold red quality among the best cherries for appearance and especially taste. Most of this quality is just sold on auctions and exported in the most luxury markets in the world. Due to this reason, they are extremelly rare to find, even for the inhabitants of the Marostica city and surroundings who consider them like "Gold". I doo too !

La stagione é terminata. Ohibò...Ho gia nostalgia !

Le ciliegie di Marostica sono per noi, che le aspettiamo ogni anno, apprezzandone gli alberi e la fioritura, come Oro.

La stagione della raccolta dura pochissimo, giusto qualche settimana per deliziare gli occhi e, per i più fortunati che ci arrivano vicino, anche i palati.

La ciliegia é il mio frutto preferito, mi ricorda l'infanzia quando appendevo alle orecchie due ciliegie tramite i loro piccioli attaccati. Il gioiello più bello, quello più delizioso.

Lo vedo ancora fare ai bimbi... E vado in un brodo di giuggiole !

Con questa settimana, anche i Duroni più tardivi sono esauriti. Sono riuscita a procurarmene un piccolo cestino e ne ho appoggiate 5 sopra a delle ampolle di vetro soffiato... Piedistalli che fungono quasi da "tabernacolo"... Tanta é la passione per questi frutti !!

Concert at the sunrise this morning in front of the sea, directly on the waterline. Meet-up at 05.40 a.m., ready for the dawn and, at the first sun beam, the concert begun.

The flautist is M° Gessica Rampazzo who has performed a repertory of Latin American author music d'antan, especially by Astor Piazzolla, with her acoustic guitarist Simone Vidali. Together they form a music duo called ARTè.

After the pit-stop, the Admiral butterfly is about to take off from a sort of springboard made of one petal of a St. Joseph Lily (Lilium Hemerocallis or Amerocallis, Fam. Liliaceae).

Manually Explored on monthly TakeOver day, selection dedicated to the Four Elements, April 24 2025 # 217 > 214

My female Albino Lovebird Chiaraluna, born on New Year '23 Day, here photographed at the age of 40 days, with her best friend Piccola, the third born of the "Greens" Family (see previous posts), here at the age of 2,5 months. They met, sympathized and went to live together in a nice cozy apartment equipped with all comforts (included carousels, slide and swing !) but they are frequently out of it flying around, especially in the kitchen. Of course they like to play with us too :-)

Piccola, the green one, remained so very tiny that Chiaraluna looks like older but, instead, it's Piccola to take care of her although, when they play it's often her to treat the white companion as a toy pony landing on her back.

Together they are amazing!

And PLEAZE : if you want to adopt a Lovebird (Agapornis Roseicollis) don't leave it alone. A Lovebird is genetically conceived as a social binomial creature and needs to be and spend its life into two: give it a mate as soon as possible !

Here (worthy a zoom in), they're photographed on a little perspex mirror from the '50's holding some rose Lokum Turkish Delight candies and to the left there are some porcelain miniatures and the first Cymbidium flower blossomed this year in a little chick-shaped glass vase, just to stay in-topic ;-)

Another Still Life, photographed few days after my previous up-load, varying the arrangement of three bouquets

picked up directly from my huge Wisteria tree, growing in a gorgeous entangled tunnel in the façade of my house.

#LimitEdition 12 - Light Painting Still Life -

shot out-door in natural early evening light with a little bouquet picked up from my big Wisteria Sinensis tree.

The Sinensis variety is the one very very perfumed.

This tree has been growing for many years in the façade of my house, in a sort of twisted archway accenting the sides of the porch and growing even beneath the roof, between tiles and beams supporting it.

In this composition, I have double boxed the flowers in a very thin Vintage bottle put inside a modern design glass vase to reach the leaning effect.

For my Group PAREIDOLIA: differently from a similar shot from the same series that I will soon post, in this one the light has illuminated the glass spikes in relief on the thin bottle, creating an cool smiley face.

Directly picked from my backyard. Still lived and shot last July in darkness with only the light of some candles, a technique I frequently use for my Still Lives which allows me to obtain both chiaroscuro and truest colours, recalling the painting masters of antiquity.

Slight edit, no retouching, no post-processing.

Boy, this has been difficult considering the large surface taken by the objects, the only use of candle's light and the necessity to illuminate the plants and tiny leaves from up high, always just with few candles directioned in the right way. I had to build a sort of latch pulley where to attach a candle holder inside a clear glass bottle and pull it up with several attempts in order to fix the right high...

Challenging to obtain a razor sharp framing too, treating the whole large composition as a macro. Not sure if it deserved a macro but it's amazing how the calla looks like when illuminated by the light of candles...

The use of Vintage Murano glass of a deep red colour has harmonized the plums and given to the overall compo a sort of reddish light, facilitated by the sole use of candles.

The greenish/reddish hues of the calla are totally natural and I am happy I could illuminate it to emphasize those spectacular chromatic tones. ...And my parrots family always keep me company nightime when I do such experiments 🐤🐦🐥 :-))

For the Earth Day (April 22), one of my Limited Editions, to delight friends, visitors, birds & parrots enthusiasts: my very best photo of the newly born siblings: Charlotte, Avanti, Pablito, Fernando, Aleandro, Valentina. Here, they are playing and chatting in the garden, looking at me so tenderly and almost camouflaged in the meadow among the wild yellow flowers.

They just had their 2nd month birthday, Fernando, the oldest, is 70 days old today. In the future, in less than one month, their first moulting will be completed and they will appear in all their splendour, although I find them already beautiful :-)

Up-dates: the babies can all fly now but are not yet weaned although they begun to independently eat seeds but still need few more weeks hand feeding with baby food too.

Hand feeding domestic birds helps them a lot to develop confidence, trust humans and never be frightened by them, which is fairly fair if humans want to live with parrots. Of course, treating them as honorable members of the family and this also means that, when the owners are on holiday, they will come together and be on holiday too!

Ring-Necked Parakeets (Psittacula Kameri), are not meant to live neither in cages nor in aviaries. If you project to adopt one or two, prepare to give them spare time free in your home to fly and feel at ease, in much larger spaces than aviaries. Then, for eating and sleeping they can stay in a large cage, I would discourage aviaries for sanity and hygienic reasons: they need a super clean environment. Cages must be cleaned many times in the week, they always need fresh new water, lots of fruits, legumes, lettuce, good corn, cereals, mineral salts and, of course, lots of seeds.

And they need safe toys, ladders and swings, because they need and love to play and exercize !

A Parakeet can be a great friend for pet therapy or as a life companion. Parrots are pure joy, provided they are loved, cared and respected. There are many fake legends on Parakeets, as for instance that they can repeat sounds but not speak: I have a couple of Parakeets who can speak very well, the male, Achille, can also sing, whistle tunes and jingles, dance and perform in many ways, like sending sounding kisses (his own private initiative, lol), and the female, Agnese, can speak as well as him. She, though, prefers to be in the audience when Aki performs his ballets... He says "Gimme little kiss" to Agnese and she replies with a true kiss and viceversa ;-) And he does with me too! When on my shoulder, he taps his beak on my cheek, speaks and ask me a kiss and then he comes close to my lips and give me many sonorous kisses but also wants to be reciprocated :-)

Parakeets are very social and interactive indeed ! They have feelings and the great thing is that they are able to express them !

Photographié, peint et éclairé par la lumière des bougies.

Photographed with my Fujifilm XS-1 in darkness, illuminated and painted by the light of candles held like torches to highlight some spots of the flowers and their stamen + pistil obtaining an interesting smooth chiaroscuro.

With this particular framing and perspective I succeeded in showing 5 out of the 8 flowers while those of the first blossomed stem where not yet withered and the flowers of the second stem were still buds.

One of my still lives at candle's light to celebrate the cherries harvest.

Cherries are the fruit I prefer and also the true protagonists, the most precious fruits of my area.

I like to display cherries in a rustic way, on wooden trays or bowls but in this new Still Life shooting, I have been willing to lend what cherries represent in my area, pure jewels, more than the best chocolate pralines... An unforgettable gourmet delicacy for both taste and eyes. An experience that only lasts 2/3 weeks in the year, the time they are mature and picked up. Something unmissable...

Especially for this shooting:

Wrapping and display is important if the content is.

So, this time, I have been using as display tools only silversmith handmade author's jewellery.

Here to the right, a mini sterling silver bowl for the whipped cream, to the left a mini sterling silver fondue holder to melt chocolate and then deep inside a cherry. I made it for real, so in this photo chocolate is melting, well, maybe boiling and the candle blown up very quickly. I could not replace it as it's not a regular tealight, it's a customized mini tealight made especially to adapt to this miniature sculpture.

I built some candle's stands using some old camera tripods and fixing the candle holders on top of them. Apart this, well, I have an appointed personally conceived "technique" to display further candles in the angles where I need this particular natural light.

The ice cubes or the dry ice gas would eventually complete the special sweet fondue.

The cherries had just been picked up from the tree, I hurried up to shoot them in all their splendor of freshness.

This vision and this flavour are never possible when buying cherries from the groceries.

Zero km food is in most cases the very best food.

His presentation is in the previous upload. This cute Lovebird

(sc. Agapornis Roseicollis) called Blu, although he is mainly green with apricot plumes on the head, was brought home with his partner Luce last February and the pair felt immediately at ease in our cozy large home.

Here he accidentally landed on my orchids while I was shooting the flowers in full blossom and, finding himself in front of my camera, decided to pose for me. He is a clown and this is one of his typical expressions. A good macro I think.

Interesting: zooming it X1 you reach the exact size of my lovebird, zooming twice you can admire all the lil details & see twice its real size.

As per my previous up-load, this is an attempt to take a supermacro of my streaked Hippeastrum, including the stamen and the pistil that are so long to have made it a lil challenging for me. This was possible, of course renouncing to the maximal magnification.

These kinds of Hippeastrum grow two stems, so they blossom twice at the distance of few weeks. The flowers (four) of this second blooming are not as bright orange as the first one. Their colour is in a darker orange, very close to the red/burgundy tones.

Micro, my Lovebird born disadvantaged, way too small and with serious problems at his paws (see his story in the previous up-load flic.kr/p/2peL1G6), after a month of incubator and steady cares, recovered forces and begun to grow. The improvements and steps towards his autonomy have been well beyond any expectations and I would have never imagined what the beautiful creature he would have become! I must say that I never saw such colours in a Lovebird: yellow mixed to acquamarine!

In the next up-load I will write on news about his health and progresses. Tuned!

...Evidently the power of Love has the big force of multiplying its fruits (but of course!) And this time the Lovebird couple didn't completely follow their usual cliché of two babies, one green peached head and one pistachio... They got three and they are all in perfect shape. The third one, the smallest to the left, called Piccola, is forest green with a neon green belly and a turquoise tail but the head is whole green, not peach as the other one. We are super happy for this success. The siblings, probably all female, are now about one month old, we already begun the hand feeding, which is also very much helping the parents who need rest now. (Mating about 15 days, than the eggs, than hatching them for about 25 days, then feeding the babies 20 more days... The whole process leasts about 2 months). In about two weeks the puppies should begin to fly. They are very chatty and loud and already begun to walk around and swing in their suspended swing. They chat even when they sleep, well this is typical for Lovebirds, especially when they are puppies... I wonder what kind of enthusiast dreams they have...) They still need to sleep a lot during night and day, and they eat continuously!

In-door Macro in natural daylight . Shot yesterday, Jan. 5 2023. If you don't dig with birds, I believe you can't imagine how much they move and what the energy and enormous patience is requested to wait for the right time to shoot them still or almost still and all in favor of the camera, especially when the subject is more than one. I love to observe them long, even with camera in hand.

We play together and they feel at ease, if it's sunny inside, they nap too! So my shootings need waiting extensions until they wake up ;-)

Another shot of my bold pink Amaryllis in full blossom, this time photographed in noon light but with the Light Painting technique, empasizing the Chiaroscuro notes.

The partial use of the synthetic light gave to the centrally illuminated flower a shiny finishing, yet turning the pink into a colder one.

From this position and framing, the central flower seems convex and protruding towards the viewer. Interesting 3-D appearance.

Photographed for the very first time outdoor, in the garden, on the occasion of his first monthly birthday. He's been so disciplined and collaborative in posing for me, very quiet, well he is always if I hold him in my hands or nearby... Primo had just had a good dosis of his baby food, at a certain point, lazy at the sun, he begun to yawn until he almost fell asleep and this determined the end of the shooting and return to his comfy crib that he shares with two newly born mates of the same age, the new children of the second brood for my couple of Lovebirds Luce and Blu, but this might be a future story that I am beginning to document photographically...

My orchids plant in full bloom.

Last year the plant was made by 3 different stems (2 out of 3 visible in the *photo added below in a comment box).

I think I have been having this plant for 20 years and, amazingly, this time it grew two more stems.

This photo documents the whole orchids galore, 43 flowers out of the total 44 (the first I picked up to make some Still Life arrangements with my Lovebird Luna, see, for instance, the next up-load).

There is absolutely no cropping in this photo. All the long leaves have been covered by me with a black drap.

Photographed few days ago in-door in natural light. But, wait and see tomorrow for another photo with the same orchids plant in a similar arrangement but a totally different photographic technique.

I would like to dedicate my photo to my neighbour Romeo. This wild prunus plant is placed in his ground, a non cultivated field, at one step distance from my garden. Recently he had gifted me his tree, giving me permission to take care of it during the seasons, included the pruning of the branches. Romeo left us prematurely last January 25 2024 for a sudden heart stroke. He was only 54, a generous guy. This tree bears now his name, Romeo, and, in the moment I'm writing this memory, it's bountifully blossoming white little flowers.

Still Life at candlelight framed by a huge natural root (briar).

This is a different shot, taken frontally after having arranged the composition by displaying & balancing every single fruit and fitting them in the frame with no pedestals nor other tools.

I've been willing to frame with a natural briar my arrangement but, at the same time, to obtain a remarkable chiaroscuro and threedimensionality with the use of natural light (only candles in darkness) & the fruits protruding from the frame in different levels.

Apart the apple (directly provided from the grocery, lol), all other fruits have just been harvested from my courtyard and that one by my neighbors :-)

I don't like to edit photos of Nature, but, if ever, this is the result between natural daylight and my own slight post-processure editing. I focused the attention here more on the line of the petals than on the inside spadix of the flowers.

Apologies for previous wrong name of the bonsai added to the title (hazelnut bonsai). The bonsai tree aside the Japanese miniature statue is in fact a beautiful Portuguese Laurel (bot. Prunus Lusitanica "Angustifolia") displayed in my garden with a large bonsai collection. I am the admirer in my Family but not the expert who, instead, corrected my description ;-)

A true kiss with closed eyes between my cockatiels Punky and Lidl (see previous poster and description).

This is one of the most special moments of Love, empathy and tenderness among two of my cockatiels that I had the privilege to frame and now can share further on.

This is the photo I chose as epitomic among all those I took during the special meeting when my two cockatiel girls have exchanged many cuddles, caresses and kisses.

Taken around the end of November 2021 when Punky was 8 months (a girl) and Lidl (the most yellow one on upper position) was only 44days old. For sure Punky felt that Lidl was a puppy, a smaller creature than her and was full of cares and attentions, completely reciprocated by Lidl.

Euroluce 2023

Seen at Tom Dixon's stand, featuring his amazing glass lamps very "Space Age" inspired and Universal Robots picking them up delicately, turning around, backing them up flawlessly.

Left: table light called "Melt" , a distorted orb-shaped glass lamp in a silver finish, emitting a mildly hallucinogenic light and hot-blown glass effect with a multiplicity of internal reflections from the integral LED when on, while it turns to have a mirror-finish and perfect reflective effect when off. Behind this, in the far left, there is the same lamp but in a copper finish.

Center: "Globe", a portable rechargeable led lamp in a gradient metallized smoked finish. A similar one is attached at the arm of the robot. Very appreciable the gamut of multiplied reflections mirrored inside the sphere.

These wireless lamps offer up to 10 hours of battery life, so they can be easily moved, placed and re-positioned wherever in a room without the proximity of an electric plug.

In the imaginary of Tom Dixon, he has conceived his lights inspired by melting glaciers and pictures of deep space.

Photographed in natural daylight on a branch in the garden few days ago when they were around 40 days old. Still babies, still needing lots of cares and handfeeding. The Mom, Luce, was particularly stressed, could take care of these first two but the 2 smaller ones were too much for her: the older ones were very demanding and she renounced to raise the smallest who, unfortunatelly could not make it.

Parrots have differtent personalities and moods like the human beings and can get stressed and tired from hatching which leasts 25 days (in the case of lovebirds) and then there is further engagement for the parents with incessant feeding, warming and cleaning the puppies. The parents may stay anchored inside the nest even 45 days up to 2 months, without ever getting out to see the light. It can be enormously engaging & tiring, although they are always happy with the puppies.

I think Luce, the Mom, had a lil accident after laying the first two eggs, she had a stop and laid the last two eggs after more than one week which made the whole procedure way too long and finally she had become so tired and aggressive that we have needed to separate her from her hubby for some days until she calmed down. Females are very jealous of the puppies and in certain moments they can see their partner as a hostile presence, although, usually males are very collaborative and it's them who mainly feed the female during the whole hatching and brood time, so they actually need to eat for themselves, the female and the puppies. More rarelly the female exits the nest, usually just to drink and rapidly eat some seeds but with the puppies the food is never enough, they simply can't produce big quantities...

And if there is a long time lapse between the births, it may happen that the older and bigger ones demand a lot, are always the first to be willing to eat and can also prevaricate the smaller ones.

Last come, last served, so the smaller ones not always catch up with a correct growing, they can be undernourished and fail in the first week or so. In the case there is a delay in growth, if the bigger ones have reached at least the 2 weeks of age, the best way is to take them out from the nest and begin the handfeeding, leaving to the parents the smaller ones. But if the older one/ones are not 2 weeks old yet, at least, there is very few that can be done... Human beings can't supply the birdy parents in the first 15 days while the puppies are still too fragile and delicate, also for their immune system.

Coming back to this portrait, I notice in the one to the right a certain (strong) ressemblance with Blu, the Daddy... Same typical expression to me :-)

The plums just picked from my prunus in the backyard.

In-studio shot in total darkness enlightened by some candles. It was the evening twillight when I took this first photo and begun my shooting, so, a pale light was still coming from the windows. The exclusive candel light became more obvious in the later shots.

This photo is very special to me and deserves to be zoomed and described into depths.

After the previous scene, more and more Punky approaches Lidl, just stopping below her, standing on the same branch of the old bonsai trunk.

They exchange a reciprocal look of approval and agreement and few minutes later will happen the unexpected, something so brilliant and intense that I decided to document it in a whole sequence of 9 photos, then seamed in a unique polyptych poster...

Here Lidl is just a chick of 44 days while Punky is a girl, not yet adult, of 8 months, their mutual gaze is particularly tender, definitely they like each other!

This work is dedicated to the Man I loved and love the most. My Daddy Silvio.

From two initial AI tests, while I was preparing the setting to take a photo in your memory... But it's been raining all day and no bright natural light for my shooting, so I focused on this other project.

In the third anniversary of the loss of my beloved Daddy, Silvio, on March 2 2020, I want to publish this experiment as the prompt I instructed pleased me and went very close to what I was imagining. Daddy appears on top of a hill kissed by the sun and a strange writing in the sky....

The sea, the mountains and a river strangely flowing parallel and not perpendicular to the sea are the image I've clearly fixed in my mind from when I've dreamed Paradise. The odd thing is that, these 3 elements of the resulting image have NOT been instructed by me.

I'm right now engaged in a still life shooting I want to dedicate to my Dad but, in the meantime, I urge to publish this amazing image. (Read below for up-dates as I worked on it, painted over and replaced the image of this post with my own work few hours after my first up-load).

I tried to merge the two tests images and added some digital hand painting as enlightening to sort out an unique ultimate result, improved with my manual intervention to be added to my previous mind intervention in instructing the prompt.

Therefore, I might replace this AI image flic.kr/p/2ojxigv in the next few hours with my own art derived from it and elaborated with my own digital painting and few elements added to the compo from my own photos.

Stay tuned...I won't sleep.

Up-date: replaced ! New caption: Assisted Ink drawing style image and manual digital painting from two initial AI images instructed by me, then partially merged together (with my editing software, not via a prompt), added at 2 of my photos for some details (camouflaged cockatiel parrots standing on my fist and Sempervivum bouquet of flowers).

The portion of the image on the far right has been completely painted by me to widen the very narrow initial image (visible in my previous up-load), then I worked on the liquid parts, I painted on some water falls, improved mountains, sky, painted few more clouds, lil birds flying. A good portion of the hair is also painted and shaded by me. I have preferred to also surgically repair the visible arm and fist.

Finally I have edited it with light adjustment and strenghthened the light around the central mountains and the male figure on the far left. ZOOM in for watching details and some surprises...

I hope you like, especially hope my Daddy will like it or that it will mean something to him when he sees this dedication work from up high.

A purple flower in the family of lilium (lilies). Botanically it belongs to the family of liliacee and is named 'Muscari comosum' and also 'Leopoldia comosa'. Italian endemic plant. In common language, these plants and their fruits are known with various interesting names: giacinto comoso, erba dell'amore, nazareno, lampagioni, cipollacce turchine, cipolle canine, cipollacci col fiocco, giacinti col pennacchio, lampascioni and pampascioni, this last in the native dialect of the Region Puglia of which they are an autochthonous species.

Avanti is the leading one of the brood of Ring-Necked Parakeet siblings. He is the third born one, a spectacular Lutino with a deep banana or safran yellow plumage and red eyes, born on February 16 2023. I have more photos of him than any other of his siblings due to the fact that he was the first one to walk and hang firmly on perches & branches. Here he is 37 days old as both photos have been shot on March 20.

I love his tender expressions, here he is posing, with a big belly just after his meal, on two of my bonsai trees, the perfect size as natural perches for baby parrots. He is such a good boy ...

Soon he will have his stomach totally covered by a tight plumage. Tomorrow Avanti will be 70 days old, he can perfectly fly now, still receives some baby food but he is on its way to weaning and already begun to eat seeds.

I'm waiting for the DNA examination results, feasible to arrive this week, to know the gender of each chick, I'm positive Avanti is male but, we never know... (Edit: yes, he is a boy! And he has 3 brothers and 2 sisters)

No, it's not a déja vu, nor an optical illusion. Indeed they look like almost identical to the previous puppies (Rainbow & Olivia) but they are not them. It's their younger sisters and this time they are three! (To be continued in the next posts...)

Notice: they don't stand well, they still tend to bend over and stay crouched because they are puppies :-)

The gorgeous and slight feathery messiness (ruffled feathers) of the newborn to the far right, called Piccola, is due to the fact her plumage is not yet completed.

She is, in fact the tiniest, 5 days younger than the pistachio one in the centre who is the "oldest".

In the first 45 days Lovebirds change and grow at eye view.
