I'm really liking these experiments...

Really liking the Canon R6’s ability to handle noise! This photo was shot at 10,000 ISO

Not liking the cold already, I put on a warmer/fun time pic of my little beauties at Bill's Backyard Bird Blind. Female Ruby-throated Hummingbird.

Thank you for liking my Invisible Lighthouse in my previous post and willing to play along! 🙏

Here's one that you can see - Ontonagon West Pierhead Lighthouse.

I wish you a very joyful and relaxed Sunday! 🌻

I'm liking the upgrade on RAM so sorry I'm sharing a lot today I know it's hard to keep up. But I really like this one and I hope that you do too!!

Thank you to each and everyone of you for liking and following my work, your comments and ongoing appreciations means a lot to me. This is a milestone I never expected to reach and I am humbled. I want to thank my partner Steven for being there in good times and bad and being my champion when I needed it most. My journey through SL photography has been made richer by all the amazing people I have met in the last year including creators who have become firm friends.

My RL is currently very distracting so this post is a little late, but I got there in the end!

Love is not extreme liking.

Love is not passionate but compassionate.

Love is not blind but sees everyone as family.

Love doesn't burn but cools the fires of lust.

Love is not personal but human.

Love does not patronize but empathizes.

Love emanates.

Love engulfs.

Love radiates

on rocky crag and furrowed field alike.

I can love people I don't know.

I can love people I don't like.

I can even love those I love.

Children of Silence and Slow Time

These little beauties can be seen in the yard during what I call the bird show. There are two regulars that show up throughout the day. They can be seen picking off caterpillars, sipping nectar from the flowering maple or golden dew drop or getting a bath in Boggy creek.

I always knew that hummingbirds enjoyed nectar but never gave much thought to other birds liking it. However, since the backyard habitat started attracting so much attention from my fine feathered friends; I have seen the little tuftys, gold finches and the northern parula all go for a bit of nectar. There was a migrator that came for a day last fall, I did not get a photo and don't know what bird it was but it was actually sipping from the hummingbird feeder. Nature never ceases to amaze me.

I hope your day is absolutely amazing, happy snapping.

The beautiful bracelet you see in this photograph is from South Africa. I bought it from a young deprived girl who has made it her self. In South Africa everyone makes something and sells it. This is how they get their pocket money...

Kuddel the black beauty. He and Flo are now about 4 months in our family, and we can't imagine a life without them. They learn to trust more and more.

Something old while I wait for something new. Weather's been lousy recently which doesn't help. Hopefully winter has a bite in its tail and then it will be onto the joys of spring. Must get down to the coast too... In the meantime this is one resurrected from October time.

This big Yak is on a farm down the road. He really didn't take a liking to me. I stood next to the fence to get this shot, then he stood up and started moving closer. The fence was not that sturdy looking and those horns are rather sturdy, so back to the safety of my car I went. He seemed much happier as well.

I have been busy with the holiday, then internet outages, and software disasters so I was out for awhile, but now hopefully back in business! :-)

Thanks for your lovely comments and views!

Liking the weather......lol !

Thank you very much for your kind comments, favorites and looking and please stay safe !

A photo to help cool off my family and friends on this first official day of summer. Many of whom live in the lower 48 states and have already had temperatures reaching into the high eighties!

(We are predicted to reach a high of 67 degrees Fahrenheit today. Much more to my liking.)

Wishing everyone a happy solstice.

Alvin and the squirrels are NOT liking all the rain. It has rained and rained for days. We needed it, but we're beyond that point. We're having flooding in the area. My grandaughter's school was closed because of flooding. There isn't any relief in sight until Tuesday. I planted some flowers, and they are "drowning." Cannot wait to see the sun again. It's 45 degrees today and it's going to be 47 tomorrow...crazy weather for almost June. Happy week end.

We went to Kniepsand, a sandbank offshore Amrum, which has connected to the island over time. Here you will find a unique landscape, consisting only of sand and beach grass. The vastness is impressive, it's like being in another world.

Liking the scent

The theme for "Smile on Saturday" for Saturday 27th June is "title wanted!" This theme is about taking a photo of anything to your liking (an open theme) that should give multiple options to give it a title. The comment section to each photo should be used to give the photos innovative / funny / silly / interesting titles to make us Smile on Saturday.

This little handmade one-of-a-kind bear is a 1:12 artisan jointed clown. You might just be able to see his little brown leather paw pads have been hand stitched. When I saw his shiny red nose, white masquerade mask and pretty ruff, I just fell in love with him, which is unusual, as I’m not particularly enamoured with clowns and find them generally sad and tragic figures. However, my feelings about clown bears are obviously different! He is leaping forth from a small crocheted coin purse. I placed them against a background of French black silk velvet. To add some magic to the shot, I added sparkles to the little bear clown and the coin purse. I hope you like my choice for this week, and I look forward to your ideas about what the title of this image should be!

Still fine tuning my new camera.

I am liking it more and more as I am learning about the new and improved functionalities!

Beavers have taken a liking to the Ruby Anthracite Creek, which flows between the Ruby Mountains and the Anthracite Mountains in western Colorado. Three dams are visible in this frame, but there are many more.

This made me wonder, once again, whether beavers have a sense of esthetics--they work so hard to create reflecting pools to live in. But on the other hand, one might say that they build dams to build homes safe from predators--their lodges have underwater entrances.

Aspen and spruce in the background, willows crowding the stream.

I'm torn between" liking" and "not liking" this feral kitty. I often see him in my yard & in my shed. With all the bird feeders up, it's a kitty's delight to find easy meals. I'm sad when I find little areas of feathers in my yard.

I also feel for this kitty

because he had survived the rough Winter & he looked in bad shape at times. I would find him in my shed sitting on the chairs inside. I fed him a few times a week. Now I must be crazy for practically inviting a bird hunter to my yard when I love birds so much. I deter the kitty from eating too many birds by setting up a perimeter of wire around my feeders. This way he has to jump over it, thus, giving the birds a wee little bit more time to fly away to safety.

He is a pretty kitty though. He stayed just long enough to let me attempt a shot.

Have a nice evening

Since it's very cold and windy with not much going on outside, I got out a lens I haven't used very often and decided to take advantage of Ripley being cozy and cute with only natural light from the window. The dogs have taken over this chair and rearranged the pillows to their liking - making a very cushy and comfortable napping place.

Blooming Wisteria, in the background some lavender. I really love the colours of summer...

Early last year, I mentioned to someone I knew that I have a great liking for really well done cover versions of songs. In reply, he sent me a list of his favourite twenty cover versions of songs, performed by a variety of artists.

Last September, I noticed I still had that list, and as I looked at the song titles on it, I suddenly thought, wouldn't it be fun to try to interpret each song title on that list into a photo for my Flickr?

I started taking the photos last September. I've been busy since then, so it took me a while to complete the list, and I've only just done it. But now it's finished, I'll gradually post each of the song playlist photos here in order.

Song 4 in the playlist is Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down), covered by Monophonics.

youtu.be/xyWHRC8A_uU

This part of the song ran through my head when I was making this picture:

Now he's gone, I don't know why

And 'til this day, sometimes I cry

He didn't even say goodbye

He didn't take the time to lie

Bang bang, he shot me down

Bang bang, I hit the ground

Bang bang, that awful sound

Bang bang, my baby shot me down

I tried to portray the moment of impact in this picture, both the actual impact of a bullet hitting a person, and also, the emotional impact of being figuratively rather than literally shot down too.

Fun fact: I found out when I was making this picture that even though most people think the original version of this song was by Nancy Sinatra, Nancy's was actually a cover version too. The song was written by Sonny Bono and Cher performed the original.

This is the same bull and cow I posted four days ago during their mating act. The flared nostrils don't seem to impress her. His expression here seems more one of anger than amorous.

Near Estes Park, Colorado. I tried several crops for this one and ended up liking this square the best.

I cannot imagine liking any of my photographic subjects the rest of this year more than this one. It was love at first sight!

"Doing what you like is freedom. Liking what you do is happiness." Frank Tyger

The viola is a large family containing 500 species, they are on record in Greece from the 4th century B.C.

Later in Europe, it was discovered that a plant similar to a viola grew in open areas.

The plant found mostly in fields and amongst rocks in the Alps, hence Alpine.

It became known as a wild pansy (French: pensée). It might have been a romantic Frenchman who 'named' it...

A pensée can be a thought or a saying, short or it can be as long as a paragraph, a page, a poem!

Maybe he thought of his loved-one, dried one amongst some book he carried? Juste une pensée... lol.

These delicately fragrant flowers come in a wonderful variety of colours.

The dark centres in some flowers are thought to resemble little faces.

These are a smaller variety that I have in the garden, I could not resist photographing them in the studio...

Soon back in the garden.

As always, thank you for your lovely comments and thoughts, M, (*_*)
