Taipei Botanical Garden (台北植物園), Taipei, Taiwan
During a short visit to Taiwan, I was pleasantly surprised to see this lone male at Taipei Botanical Garden. This species is rarely seen at sea level. Its natural habitat is at higher altitudes. As can be imagined, its sighting attracted hundreds of birders to the Garden. It also invoked territorial aggression from another lone male of a different species, White-rumped Shama, also rarely seen and shown in the previous picture. With both birds liking the same tree, the Vivid Niltava was often chased away by the White-rumped Shama and only returned to feed when the latter was elsewhere.
Not liking the cold already, I put on a warmer/fun time pic of my little beauties at Bill's Backyard Bird Blind. Female Ruby-throated Hummingbird.

I'm liking the upgrade on RAM so sorry I'm sharing a lot today I know it's hard to keep up. But I really like this one and I hope that you do too!!
Thank you to each and everyone of you for liking and following my work, your comments and ongoing appreciations means a lot to me. This is a milestone I never expected to reach and I am humbled. I want to thank my partner Steven for being there in good times and bad and being my champion when I needed it most. My journey through SL photography has been made richer by all the amazing people I have met in the last year including creators who have become firm friends.
My RL is currently very distracting so this post is a little late, but I got there in the end!

Love is not extreme liking.
Love is not passionate but compassionate.
Love is not blind but sees everyone as family.
Love doesn't burn but cools the fires of lust.
Love is not personal but human.
Love does not patronize but empathizes.

Located in the altitude fields of the "Serra da Bocaina", the "Casa de Pedra", as it is currently known, was built by Dr. Lassance, a resident doctor from Rio de Janeiro, in the beginning of the 20th century and its apogee in 1914.
Once ready and decorated with the richest imported refinements, the house was not much to the liking of his wife who was not interested in the patrimony.
The abandonment and vandalism were destroying the beautiful building that is now in ruins, and today is only a reminder of the golden days of "Bocaina".

The beautiful bracelet you see in this photograph is from South Africa. I bought it from a young deprived girl who has made it her self. In South Africa everyone makes something and sells it. This is how they get their pocket money...
Something old while I wait for something new. Weather's been lousy recently which doesn't help. Hopefully winter has a bite in its tail and then it will be onto the joys of spring. Must get down to the coast too... In the meantime this is one resurrected from October time.

Eight Thousand Horses spot seventy tons of bricks at W.R. Taylor Company in the middle of Tarragona Street in Pensacola, Florida. With apparently no more four-axles in the yard, a pair of six-axle Gevos did the honors of swapping an empty for a loaded boxcar at W.R. Taylor this night. While certainly not the ideal set of power for my liking, having caught a rare daylight move a few days prior with a proper leader on this already very difficult to catch and unique operation, I was happy to document the odd move. The empty boxcar was set out further back so the conductor could connect a road barrier to it across the street to avoid any northbound traffic while switching. Pensacola, FL

1 of 25 Days of Christmas
My first shot of my Christmas album for 2020. I took 2 different shots last night and ended up not liking either. I hurried around today searching the house frantically for something to take a shot of of and came up with this. I hope it is a good enough start to my 25 Days of Christmas.
When I took this portrait, first I was a bit disappointed to find this fly on the head of this beautiful bearded vulture which refused to leave the bird. But when I later watched the pictures, I found this one was the best of all. It still makes me smile when ever I watch it...

Meet my stalker, Spike the Wood Pigeon. Unable to find a mate and rejected by his parents, Spike has taken a liking to me. He comes and sit next to me when I'm taking photo's in the garden. He waits at my backdoor each morning until I feed him, he won't let me stroke him but I have to be careful when I'm walking because he gets under my feet. I have to sit with him when he feeds, if I leave him he flies off leaving his food and won't come back until I return. He has a distinctive white spike on his white on his left side, hence the name.

Beavers have taken a liking to the Ruby Anthracite Creek, which flows between the Ruby Mountains and the Anthracite Mountains in western Colorado. Three dams are visible in this frame, but there are many more.
This made me wonder, once again, whether beavers have a sense of esthetics--they work so hard to create reflecting pools to live in. But on the other hand, one might say that they build dams to build homes safe from predators--their lodges have underwater entrances.
Aspen and spruce in the background, willows crowding the stream.
I'm torn between" liking" and "not liking" this feral kitty. I often see him in my yard & in my shed. With all the bird feeders up, it's a kitty's delight to find easy meals. I'm sad when I find little areas of feathers in my yard.
I also feel for this kitty
because he had survived the rough Winter & he looked in bad shape at times. I would find him in my shed sitting on the chairs inside. I fed him a few times a week. Now I must be crazy for practically inviting a bird hunter to my yard when I love birds so much. I deter the kitty from eating too many birds by setting up a perimeter of wire around my feeders. This way he has to jump over it, thus, giving the birds a wee little bit more time to fly away to safety.
He is a pretty kitty though. He stayed just long enough to let me attempt a shot.
Have a nice evening
Still fine tuning my new camera.
I am liking it more and more as I am learning about the new and improved functionalities!

Early last year, I mentioned to someone I knew that I have a great liking for really well done cover versions of songs. In reply, he sent me a list of his favourite twenty cover versions of songs, performed by a variety of artists.
Last September, I noticed I still had that list, and as I looked at the song titles on it, I suddenly thought, wouldn't it be fun to try to interpret each song title on that list into a photo for my Flickr?
I started taking the photos last September. I've been busy since then, so it took me a while to complete the list, and I've only just done it. But now it's finished, I'll gradually post each of the song playlist photos here in order.
Song 4 in the playlist is Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down), covered by Monophonics.
This part of the song ran through my head when I was making this picture:
Now he's gone, I don't know why
And 'til this day, sometimes I cry
He didn't even say goodbye
He didn't take the time to lie
Bang bang, he shot me down
Bang bang, I hit the ground
Bang bang, that awful sound
Bang bang, my baby shot me down
I tried to portray the moment of impact in this picture, both the actual impact of a bullet hitting a person, and also, the emotional impact of being figuratively rather than literally shot down too.
Fun fact: I found out when I was making this picture that even though most people think the original version of this song was by Nancy Sinatra, Nancy's was actually a cover version too. The song was written by Sonny Bono and Cher performed the original.
I cannot imagine liking any of my photographic subjects the rest of this year more than this one. It was love at first sight!

The viola is a large family containing 500 species, they are on record in Greece from the 4th century B.C.
Later in Europe, it was discovered that a plant similar to a viola grew in open areas.
The plant found mostly in fields and amongst rocks in the Alps, hence Alpine.
It became known as a wild pansy (French: pensée). It might have been a romantic Frenchman who 'named' it...
A pensée can be a thought or a saying, short or it can be as long as a paragraph, a page, a poem!
Maybe he thought of his loved-one, dried one amongst some book he carried? Juste une pensée... lol.
These delicately fragrant flowers come in a wonderful variety of colours.
The dark centres in some flowers are thought to resemble little faces.
These are a smaller variety that I have in the garden, I could not resist photographing them in the studio...
Soon back in the garden.
As always, thank you for your lovely comments and thoughts, M, (*_*)
