We were up in the Houston area for a wedding shower and decided to check out the famed bolivar peninsula. We got up early and headed out to high island. This sunrise backlit shot of a great egret was one of the first shots I took after setting up.

As you can see the Kingfisher's eye is protected by a membrane (knipvlies in Dutch). Despite the membrane the Kingfisher can stil see under water.

This Male Sparrowhawk came a little closer than I expected after it was spooked by a passing Red Kite overhead. It hopped about on a few perches which allowed me to get a really detailed closeup of his eyes, feather colours and the bit of blood from a recent meal on his beak, I also like the Bokeh on this one.

I took this picture at a really cloudy morning. I hoped to see the moonset. But there was no chance to see him. But on the other side of the Bride the clouds became out of control. For a few minutes everything became like this. I saw this fence and dicied to give it a chance. I love the colors. I hope you too :D

Das Bild enstand an einem sehr bewölkten morgen. Ich hoffe noch mal den untergang des Riesenmondes zu fotografieren. Doch da war keine Chance, es war einfach zu bewölkt. Aber auf der anderen Seite der Brücke spielten die Wolken verrückt. Für einen kurzen moment sah alles aus wie hier. Ich liebe diese Faben. Ich zah den Zaun un beschloss ihm eine Chance zu geben. Ich hoffe ihr auch :D

Like a scene from an old movie depicting sailors lost in the fog of the Sargasso Sea, surrounded by misery in any direction.
These are dead trees in the sulfuric like basin areas of Yellowstone.
As the first cuckoos have been heard in the uk, I thought I would post this one from last year as it looks like we may miss them this year.
Like a butterfly;

The morning fog had burned off the valley as I headed east on CA 58 towards Tehachapi, Bakersfield behind me. I wasn't sure how this would come out, the sun was above and directly in front of me, so bumped up the contrast and used my slightly tented windshield and fast shutter to reduce the brightness. Also luck to find one of the few spots on this steep climb big enough to pull my rig off the roadway.

Gaomei was called Gaomi in the Qing Dynasty and was renamed during the Japanese occupation. The wetlands here are over 300 hectares, but the area is only 1/10 of Dadu River wetlands. The geography is divided into 7 categories, which results in diversified organisms in this area. Gaomei Wetlands is one of the few places that has wild ducks.
Despite the small area, Gaomei Wetlands have special soils mixed with mud and sand. Ecology here breeds diversified organisms of both plants and animals. Research shows that animals here include birds, fishes, crabs and invertebrates.
位於清水大甲溪出海口南側，廣達1,500公頃的高美濕地，擁有豐富的天然資源，是國內少數幾處雁鴨集體繁殖區之一。 曾在高美濕地棲息的鳥類有多達120餘種，為重要之生態保育區。 目前已逐漸取代大肚溪口，成為喜好賞鳥人士的新興賞線。
高美濕地雖然面積不大，但是由於泥質及沙質灘地兼具，加上與河口沼澤地帶鑲嵌在一起，所以孕育了豐富又複雜的濕地生態，以及目前所知全台灣最大族群的雲林莞草區，形成乾濕相間伴有植物生長的複雜地形，因為地形多變，生態種類亦相當複雜，主要為鳥類、魚類、蟹類及其他無脊椎類等生物。
Lone tree near Blà Bheinn, Isle of Skye
Another 'shout out' to Skyeweasel for showing me this tree. You can shoot it from any angle but this is the one I preferred. It seemed the branches somewhat mirrored the shape of the mountains in the background. The snow on the top was a real bonus for me.
I took a whole load of single shots with the 15-35mm lens but in Landscape I couldn't get the height I wanted and in portrait I could not get the width. I took a chance with shooting a 5 shot pano with a lot of overlap as there was a very slight breeze. I had to do a very small amount of blending with a single image where the ends of a branch had moved slightly but hope I spotted it all and have 'fixed' it. Let me know if you spot anything which I've missed.
Even if I say so myself I really liked the scene and another big thank you Louise for showing it to me.
