Since 1884, this iron skeleton tower has marked the beach at Sanibel Island. It has also been known as the Point Ybel Light. It's been automated since 1949.

The Charlevoix South Pier Light Tower guides boats to the Pine River Channel, which leads to Round Lake of Charlevoix, Michigan. Besides fishermen and private pleasure boats, the main commercial beneficiaries of this lighthouse are the Beaver Island ferries, one of which is the Beaver Islander, shown in the picture.

The Beaver Islander, built by the Sturgeon Bay Shipbuilding Company in 1962, can carry 10 vehicles and 172 passengers to Beaver Island, the largest island in Lake Michigan.

A somewhat strange title but it is a 100% translation from Dutch to English. It more a less looks like a tongue.

Another drone shot, taken in Denmark, on the westernmost point of the Island Zealand, the biggest island of Denmark, and the same where Copenhagen is situated. The drone shot here shows the Rösnaes light tower.

Brockton Point Light Station

Stanley Park

Vancouver, B.C.

Canada

A Stanley Park showpiece.

A number of ship collisions in the waters around the point led to the construction of a lighthouse and signaling station at Brockton Point. For a time, Brockton Point had a lighthouse keeper, who served for 25 years starting in 1855 and is credited for having saved 16 people from drowning. The present day lighthouse tower with an automatic light was built in 1914. It was designed by Thomas Hayton Mawson, who also constructed the lifeboat house located below the point and other Stanley Park landmarks.

(Dedicated to Neal and his love for lighthouses)

A picture of Slangkop a while after the sun had set. This was such an interesting experience... We were there for about an hour before the sun set and before the light came on. When it was finally dark enough for the light to start, it started the process by making little green sparkles which grew in intensity until the light was finally casting a beam across the sky in pitch black darkness. This photo was taken somewhere in between these two extremes.

It is another fascinating part of the Cape... there are wooden walkways all along the coast and through the Fynbos. Many people come here for evening strolls or to see the sun set or. It isn't a part of the Cape I had ever visited before and so happy I did this time. The lighthouse can actually be visited during the day, something I will do next time. Amazing sights!

I took this photo from the pedestrian footbridge from Swan St to the MCG on the morning of the Manchester United v Crystal Palace FC soccer match. It was 11am and already some die-hard fans were arriving at the ground 8 hours before the game.

I spotted this vantage point from the train as I was travelling into the city. Despite having a great time wondering around for hours snapping the city sites, I found myself drawn back to this spot to grab some photos.

It's a HDR image as the sun was low in the sky on the other side of the stadium, so the side in the photo was fully in the shade.
