By nosing around an unrenovated '21-tier apartment downstairs, I figured out where all my original wall light fixtures were located. They had long-ago been removed and the electric boxes patched-over and hidden. I have excavated one of them and luckily the wires are still live! But a local on/off switch is required. Is the switch I've rigged underneath this fixture too funky or unsightly? I don't think I mind it, but I am seeking other opinions. (The fixture I'm using is actually meant to be a porch light!)

At the west end of the garden, stairs down to the path at the base of the slab wall. The head of the stair is lit, the last few steps like the path itself are not.
In reality, that is looking up at a light. I used the fastest shutter speed, the lowest ISO, and the smallest aperture. Then I went for the metallic look in post-processing.
I think only about half of these are still in play. But I forget all the time the ones we have anyway.
The fifth light fixture is lit up and working. The 12 gauge wire hanging off to the side is determined to be "hot", ready to be fed into the sixth light fixture.

I adore these ceramic lights from the 1930's. We had similar ones in my Grandparents home that was built in the late 30's. They made matching ceiling lights. Would be cute in a bathroom or nursery.
This place was wonderful - great food and a kitschy atmosphere. If all of you in the Northeast are wondering why you can't find 1950s chome tables and Mid-century advertising that's because it's all here at the Friendly Toast.
I hate this light fixture. hate hate hate. I want to change it for something else but
1) I don't know what
2) I don't know how
I'm sure I can figure out #2 on my own. but I need some opinions for #1.
I enjoyed taking photos of the garbage in the rain this morning ( and the neighbour came out to see what I was doing....and offered me the light fixture...it's all there, he said. )

Massive light fixture hanging in the conference room at the FIFA building Zuerich. The walls in there are clad in platinum! No joke! I was asked not to lean on them because of their value.Total costs of the building were CHF 240 million!
See more in my FIFA set.
Live, travel, learn.
Most important travel tip learned on this trip -- Do NOT fly Delta through Atlanta Hartsfield airport. Baaaaad idea.
My flight left Pgh late, because the plane arrived into Pgh late. Suffice to say, sprinting through the Atlanta airport did not do me any good. By the time I had waited an hour to get to the head of the ticketing line, I had already been back and forth on hold on the phone to Delta to rebook my flight.
In my case, I had made it to the gate, to see my plane still sitting there, for another 10 minutes even, but the gate door was already closed when I got there.
But, mine was not the best story. A rather attractive blonde woman behind me in line had also come in from Pgh.
She was booked on a once-a-day flight to Brazil. As she walked into the gate area of her flight, the gate agent saw her coming....
... and ran to get ahead of her, then closed the gate door in her face and said "it's closed."
I have since been told, that even other Delta employees hate dealing with Delta in Atlanta. I can certainly believe that.
Anyway.... this hanging light was in the airport bar in the Atlanta airport. The dinner voucher that Delta had given me paid for a beer, and the breakfast voucher paid for most of a quesadilla to sit next to it.
I had just barely made it in time for last call, at 9:30. Sheesh
