J.S. Cotney, Inc. is a lighting manufacturers rep in Birmingham, AL that provides integrated lighting solutions for a variety of applications.
Rivermarket, located in Tuscaloosa, AL, is one of our projects. The open space at one end of the building is used not only for a regular farmer's market, but also for receptions, events, shows, parties, etc.
The other end of the building features office and conference room space, along with Tuscaloosa tourism information.
For Rivermarket, we provided all of the lighting fixtures and the lighting control system. Even before ground was broken, we created a 3D animation of the space in-house. You can see the completed animation on our YouTube channel.
One the building was nearing completion, we traveled to Tuscaloosa to commission the lighting control system and train their staff on how to use it.
This nice lighting fixture is in the entry hall of the Lavender and Thyme b & B in Glenwood Springs.
Notice how the lights are incorporated into the canopy.
This place should be on the National Register.

The Jellico Motel, just off I-75, Jellico, Tennessee. I haven't been able to determine exactly when it closed, but it appears to still have been in business in at least 2014.

At the location house in Pasadena, CA for a Target commercial. Not sure if they're the homeowner's or if Art Department put them up. Cardboard along the walls is protection...
I don't remember where I took this, but how badass is this light fixture? I would like to own one and then hang it over my dining room table.

I've passed by this building many times, and have looked in the windows, but recently, I saw one of the windows was broken enough to stick the camera in, and so it was done.
Okay, the William Penn Musuem has the COOLEST light fixtures. Duane and I had just gone to the Destination Saturn Planetarium show and this light fixture was in the hallway. LOVE IT!

Old Seoul Station, built in 1900, had been lying abandoned and neglected ever since the shiny, big and new Seoul Station was built next door in 2004.
I'm so glad they are using it for art exhibitions now. Last week I went to the Seoul International Photography Festival there. I did spend a lot of time looking at the photos, but mostly I was mesmerized by the fancy old chandeliers. I hope they preserve these ornate light fixtures.
Almost sold during the estate sale! We were lucky these fixtures remained at the property.

I was amazed at the elegant details I found at the Ellis Island. This is a light fixture in the main dormitory hall. The ceiling was beautiful tile work and detail seemed to be carefully chosen.
I've played with trying the "Orton Effect" on this one... not sure if I pulled it off but I do like what I wound up with.
This photograph is part of an on-going project, tentatively called "Mostly Context."

Got a chance recently to revisit the historic 16th St. train station in Oakland. It was just over a year to the day since my first visit, and it was kind of sad to see the condition had deteriorated even more.
Despite the efforts of the caretaker of the property, there was more grafitti, more damage, and even a small-ish fire had charred an area inside.
To combat that, cameras and motion detectors have been added to the site. As much as I dislike draconian security, it seems necessary to protect this beautiful structure.
I found the experience of seeing the accelerated deterioration discouraging and it was hard for me to feel enthusiastic about photographic the place in that state. I managed to get a few I liked...but mainly of the exterior.

Frank Lloyd Wright's Unity Temple in Oak Park, IL. I found the outside rather bleak, but I liked the fact that most of the worshipers look down on the pulpit, it had a very (imperial senate chamber in the new Star Wars movies feel to it only smaller).
