The major solar storm that was supposed to happen last night never developed. This crown like formation was one of the best of the night. A long climb up the mountain wasn't totally wasted. I came away great milky way and northern light shots.
It has been one of the best mornings of photography I have probably ever had.
It started with an incredible moon light shot of Salto Grande waterfall, a quick change of plans to capitalise on the most spectacular light imaginable and finished here, the beautiful cascades.
It’s hard to believe that some 60min after the glorious light seen in my earlier images Hurry up and dream and Touches, the sky was still a sight to be seen.
It had been an incredible morning and I was now ready to return to my tent, pack up for the day and head off for the next adventure.

The beads of the bracelet are all clear. It is the refraction of light within the bead that causes the color. The light source is from my cell phone’s LED light.

The Rio–Antirrio Bridge (Greek: Γέφυρα Ρίου-Αντιρρίου), officially the Charilaos Trikoupis Bridge after the statesman who first envisaged it, is one of the world's longest multi-span cable-stayed bridges and the longest of the fully suspended type. It crosses the Gulf of Corinth near Patras, linking the town of Rio on the Peloponnese peninsula to Antirrio on mainland Greece by road.
This is a shot from Kålvika in Grimsøy, between Sarpsborg and Halden, Norway. Great evening together with a good friend. Really enjoy these last light shots :)
One last northern light shot for this time. Hope to capture it again soon.
This capture was taken on Tuesday 17 march. It was the same day as the other 2 pictures I have posted here. But this was my last shot.
I was told by my friend Miska Saarikko that I should go out and try to capture the northern light, since it was really strong this day.
It was a really cloudy night, and it was a real struggle to try to find a good location. I ended up here at Ingestrand camping in Arvika with my 2 dogs.
It is truly magical to see the northern lights dancing their across the night sky.
I will remember this night for quite some time, I really enjoyed this, hope you will aswell.

"Still Life" in all actuality is an oxymoron, whilst I am a big fan of Still Life Photography, the term itself is puzzling, as everything is energetically vibrational and everything is constantly in a state of motion, as in ALL things. I once in a very macabre fashion joked to a friend, that you can never be doing nothing, even when you're dead you're decomposing. Yes I know I have a dark side.
This Macro shot was with my trusty Raynox, I spotted these tiny berries littering the ground by the Canal on Kaiserin Augusta Allee (Moabit, Berlin), the Sun wasn't directly penetrating the area, so I got a very organic natural light shot in 70mm with the Tamron in full retraction, so I think the focus was fairly even.
I hope everyone is well, new week ahead, don't let the buggers get you down and so as always, thank you! :)
My attempt at the "Smile on Saturday" theme "lost and found".
Found this beer glass on the street in front of our house. Of course I removed it from there due to the potential dangers to everyone. So now I‘ve tried to refill it with light.
Shot with a Carl Zeiss "S-Sonnar 62 mm F 2.5" lens on a Canon EOS R5.
I took advantage of this very aggressive male that kept coming back to this perch after he chased away the other ones. Had some nice soft light. I will try and go back to compare this with golden light shots if I get the opportunity just to see what that might look like.
Wishing you a peaceful and lovely weekend :)
My photography is mostly nature. I enjoy macro photography a lot, but it is difficult to decide what a I like the most about this art.

Took a trip out to Prospect last night. The aim of the mission was to practice my low light, long exposure photography. So here's the thing...It was very cold, my night shots were terrible, my low light shots were okay....BUT what I just couldn't get to grips with was the fact this...ONE of the TWO fishing shacks I love the most in the Province has been re-shingled and NOT been re-painted RED. I am beyond upset about this! This cove was SO picture perfect before. Please if the owners are reading this...You have done a lovely job with the shingles, but please for the love of art, paint it red again.
Hornklee keeps on fighting against the dryness. Its always amazing to see, how the Canon lens renders with the right light. Shot with the Canon FD 50mm F3.5 SSC.
We had no luggage for the first 8 days of our safari, and my only mono-pod was packed in that missing luggage, so I had to make do on low-light shots.
I used a railing out back of an Italian restaurant we were dining in to get this shot.

This was made a few days before the image in my previous post. The bird in an area where owls are nesting. I believe this is the male, who is usually watching the nest tree from a distance.
This is another early morning low light shot (12,800 ISO, f5.6, 1/4 seconds). I continue to be amazed at the lighting conditions our current cameras allow us to work in.
Brazos Bend State Park in SE Texas - 2/2023.
Single image HDR I always forget I have a 35mm which is great for low light shots I love the Scots pine tree a bit like huge bonsai I think.
I always wanted to do that; a morning light shot, rays coming through the trees in a forrest in a misty atmosphere..OK, not a perfect one, but currently enough to satisfy my desire for having it finally done! My lense choices were mainly short angles like 50 mm or 70-200 zoom, so what saved me again was my starter lens, which is the 18-55 mm, as the widest angle...That 18-55 mm lens, which many says '^this is not even a lens', has always been my best friend:))
Took this 'First Light' shot from the Eastern Shoreline adjacent to Plas-y-Brenin the National Outdoor and Mountaineering Centre where there is good roadside access to the lake.
It's 8.30am and the sun has just cleared the hillside to the left now fully illuminating Crib Goch (Red Ridge in Welsh) 923m (2,532ft) and part of the 'Snowdon Horseshoe' behind it as well.
Snowdon's Peak, already shrouded in cloud, lies directly behind Crib Goch and sadly so it remained for the whole day.
A shot reprocessed and re-lifed from a few years back.
I was spending time at the family home in Beeston and took advantage of the approaching dusk to come out for a low-light shot of the evening Kingsbury - Lindsey oil tanks. As the blue-hour took hold I couldn't resist this 'warm up' bokeh opportunity. It was raining at the time, hence the water droplets hanging from the ladder rungs.
Commenting off for this one, thanks.

Sometimes you just have to hope for the best!
I was feeling a bit whimsical today, I wanted to do something humorous, and decided a Lego baseball player vs. a normal baseball was just what the doctor ordered!
Lighting was a light shot into a silver umbrella for the toy and the baseball, then two lights on the background.
I have been hearing them and catching glimpses on the Whitemud Trails and finally got a clear but back-lighted shot.
Added to my Canada 150 Album.
Saw about 40 of these waxwings at a local trail...against the light for the most part but managed this side light shot
Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to view, fave or comment. It is very much appreciated!

It appears as if this Great egret is holding a small feather quite lightly, so as not to crush it. Extreme bright light, shot under exposed. Wildwood Lake, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

The Sharp-tailed Grouse are very active on their lek, or dancing ground, this month, as they try to impress the watching females with their male prowess. So... they dance, they make themselves big, they rush about, strut, hoot, chirp, and leap into the air in a flurry of wingbeats, talons ready to slash at their rival if they see an opening. It's very intense. By the end of mating season many of them are bloodied and bruised, and missing feathers. Grouse wars are serious business!
Morning light, shot from the rolling red Toyota blind parked at the edge of the lek.

Little curios lamb. The meadow is right next to our local high school. If my school environment in Magdeburg had been so tranquil. The picture was taken with the next new old Schneider Kreuznach 135mm lens. Externally, the lens is in top condition, but unfortunately the aperture is broken, so only open aperture shots. It delivers very sharp images though. The lens is even smaller and much lighter than the Schneider lens I introduced a week ago. The shots have a beautiful vintage touch, maybe it was the light.
Shots are completely unedited jpg's.
Natural light shots from a photo tour led by Juan Carlos Vindas of Neotropic Photo Tours www.neotropicphototours.com.
As the light continued to get more dramatic, the shadows also began to move in. Like a scene from a thriller movie, they appeared to surround the distant silhouette. It was a thrilling moment for me as well, as I searched for the right position. The one that would best take advantage of the setting.
A pinkish streak of light shot through the sky, as day was quickly becoming night. The shadows continued their inexorable march, while just the right spot anchored my tripod, and the shot was made.
I was just setting up to take a low light shot of The Ginnel behind Dean Clough Mill in Halifax when a tractor came past towing a grit spreading trailer, all lights flashing so I had just enough time to capture this light trail shot.
This shot was taken in Münster, Germany. I was in a Botanical Garden to look at all the different flowers and plants, when I saw this little fern fighting for light.

On an overcast day I sat in the same pool of water. This Phalarope pauses with perhaps one of many insects they were plucking from the surface. They were definitely fueling up on their way North. Took advantage of the real close ones this time around. More soft light shots and golden light shots to come. Click for large view.
