Chiaroscuro lesson in life drawing class today. We worked exclusively with charcoal, black and white.

The last drawing I did from last class... learning to draw with a wacom presents so many different techniques and opportunities, its overwhelming. This week I mostly experimented and left feeling a bit disappointed with my output, yet glad I'd tried some new ideas. I did this one at the end, as it was a bit more conventional, and I suppose an attempt to get something a bit more traditional.
Hastily taken photos of drawings I did whilst in the UK. Some of these are done at Neil Moore's Saturday class in Stratford on Avon. He's an amazing artist, and the best teacher of drawing I've come across, whose very reasonably priced Saturday class was fantastic.

Hard work being a model under the hot lights. The ladies of course had a wonderful time in life drawing with this male model. Of course we had to change the backdrop, for obvious reasons :)
This is a student drawing (4 Stitches out of a 30 Stitch homework assignment). I drew on top of it. I'm discussing eye paths, focal points, the bean, and dark over light in line work. Dr Sketchy is an 'anti-art' life drawing class held monthly in various cities across the world. Its basically a burlesque life drawing class with a lot of fun thrown in, and a lot of character and talent too! - Its open to anyone, regardless of drawing ability. Our model 'fancy chance' turned the standard life-drawing class atmosphere on its head somewhat, as did our very witty and flamboyant host Dusty. Spot prizes were awarded throughout the three hour session and we all had to literally draw our hearts out! Janey and I had a great time, at this very entertaining evening.
