The Fab Lab is stuffed with high tech equipment. It is staffed by volunteers, who in return for their work get time on the machines. When we were there, the space was also being used as a regional centre for the Festival of Code - a group of young people taking part in a national weeklong event, building apps on their laptops.

10 children plus volunteer helpers all busily working through projects in Tinkercad - getting ready for 3D printing.
Good to see almost as many girls as boys taking part. When asked what their favourite activity was, most of the ones I spoke with said coding (others like ozobots, and makey makey).

The library is in a 1960s building which has been completely refurbished. The reception is now a very open space, forming a bridge between shopping streets and a park. It contains a cafe and comfortable chairs and was buzzing with people while we visited.
