Saturday morning craft club in full swing though, so the whole library was full of children! (had to wait a while to capture this space empty!) Lots of lego out, colouring going on, and complicated stuff being created on the computers. A couple of brave adults ventured in to change their books too.
Comic character Ivy certainly doesn't appear to lack self-confidence during her visit to Enniskillen Library. #librariesday #MyLNI

Bernadette said "I love the relaxed, calm atmosphere in the library. Cushendall Library is exceptional! Where else would you have high tea, surrounded by wonderful books - fiction & reference! I think it's a haven is a busy life."
Mr Chowdhury was good to his word yesterday & typed up his thoughts this morning on Belfast Central Library & Libraries in general:
"My opinion about Libraries.
Last ten years i come regularly to the Central Library. I love the Central library because Central Library has thousands of books; music, newspaper, computer with internet and free Wi-Fi connection that i could use free and gain knowledge. All the Staffs are very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. You could bring your Laptop and Tablet and get free connection. You can also borrow books, music cd and could us all the facilities. There is a nice corner in the cafe where you can sit down, relax and take a cup of tea or coffee. I like to advise people to come to the Libraries and enjoy your free time and gain knowledge.

Unfortunately the patron who left this message for us here at Belfast Central Library this morning was a little camera shy but it was still nice of him to take the time to jot down his thoughts. :)

Our Belfast Central Lending Department hosts a Rhythm & Rhyme session for children from 0-4 years every Friday morning at 11am. Everyone is more than welcome to come along & join in the fun!

Great way of making friends. Helpful advice from fellow knitters. Staff extremely helpful and welcoming. Always know our names. The tea and coffee is always very enjoyable.

Last port of call on our tour of Medway libraries on National Libraries day, and really interesting to find out about this co-location project. During school hours, this is the school library - with a coffee shop, lots of space for classroom activities, and lots of books for teens and children. After school and on Saturdays, its open to the public.
Mr Campbell is a regular patron to our 1st floor Reading Room in Belfast Central Library.
He very kindly left us this comment this morning when he had finished his online research:
"Mr P.Campbell. I use the Belfast Central Library to use their internet facility for e-mail purposes and research."

1st floor information display showcasing Library books avaliable for loan on the Dutch master Rembrandt. His Self Portrait at the age of 63 painted in 1669, is currently on show in the Ulster Museum.
We host frequent displays, events, talks & tours throughout the year in Belfast Central Library. Check our noticeboards, website or ask a member of Staff for more information.
One of our patrons who reads the daily n'papers on the 1st floor left us this comment today -
"I always admire the dedicated friendly service Central Library gives to the public... Beautiful surroundings as well."

Ruby, Joe and Sam, with their gruffalo masks at Lytchett Matravers Library. Over 30 children accompanied by parents / grandparents made gruffalo masks, joined in the gruffalo hunt and listened to the story!
A busy morning as coffee and homemade cakes were served by the Friends group. A local MP, Michael Tomlinson, attended with his family.

Last port of call on our tour of Medway libraries on National Libraries day, and really interesting to find out about this co-location project. During school hours, this is the school library - with a coffee shop, lots of space for classroom activities, and lots of books for teens and children. Works well as a homework space too in the 'in between time 3-4. Then after school and on Saturday it is open to the public - all stock is rotated Medway-wide, borrow from any, return to any etc (so I did, and I will!).
Opened in 1961, can't believe this is the first time I've been there - wonderful airy space inside, lots of classic 60s features outside, like those concrete fins and the curved entrance porch.
From the balcony, which is a wonderful space with comfy sofas, a jigsaw library, and desks for quiet study (shhh, someone was working just behind me).
Really pleased to find this library in the woods - a part of Medway I've never explored, and while the library was the main draw today, I'm itching to go back and follow the path into the woods
From the raised area at one end, where all the computers are, looking over the main space. When all those wheeled shelving units are pushed to the sides that is quite a big space for events.
Used the opportunity of National Libraries Day 2016 to visit all the Medway libraries I hadn't seen - and was really pleased to see this one. Had never been out to the edge of the Grain peninsular, and this library in a converted chapel is lovely. Lots of the original features remain inside, but the space is used for all sorts of community activities, including film nights, 'ladies that lunch' meetings and more.
