This is one Stinky Old Photograph: This photo was taken a while back and the amount of camera gear I have has grown by leaps and bounds (not sure yet if this is a good or bad thing). You can see the new gear photo by going here.
Original Desc: Well here it is, my camera gear...all indivudally noted and all strewn out for the world to see. 90% of it was bought in the last 10 months. It all fits in the camera bags at the top and the bags are normally packed to the brim with the gear.
My wife is a very patient and kind soul but I think I'm at the limit for a good long while, when I was arranging this stuff on the bed to take photo of it in our guest room she just about snapped seeing everything laying there. If I buy much else I will probably be justifiably shot, so if I stop suddenly posting to Flickr you'll know I likely got a new piece of gear and was subsequently killed.
I enjoy a number of hobbies (music, cars, cycling, camping, boating, technology and more), but one of the things I like about photography is it's a hobby that can be incorperated into every other hobby and aspect of life. In photography I've found something that I really, really enjoy and is a way I can have a semi-creative outlet for my soul. But as cool as photography is, music is still my main passion and I think that's the way it will always be...
NOTE: This photo made it into Flickr's 'Explore" as one of the top five hundred most interesting photos on a particular day. You can see all of my photo's that have made it into the Flickr Explore pages here.
After years spent admiring photos of anemones, I found and purchased a plant of Anemone coronaria that the nursery label also called windflower. And then spent two days trying to capture the bloom as it opened in the sun and then closed in the evening.
Much as I loved and still love the look of film, I'm so grateful for digital cameras and memory. After using two rather large Lexar cards and a battery reboot, I'm still experimenting.
I shot this indoors at f/10 with a white card some distance behind the blossom, three windows with indirect light, and one off-camera strobe.
Thanks for looking. Off to try again! (Progress, not perfection.) And to repot and place on the deck.
Oh, if any botanists or naturalists worry about this plant propagating, it will not. We will keep it in a pot on our back deck, as it is native to the Mediterranean region, not here. (And this is the reason I opened a second account. No mansplaining! Please.)

2023 Photo 125/240: One should never leave a 128GB 250MB/S Lexar Professional SD Card lying around where a hungry and mischievous little cairn terrier can get it. Heartbreaking! The only good thing is that I had just offloaded all of the images into Lightroom and my cloud backup folder, or I’d be even more bereft. c.2023 John M. Hudson | jmhudson1@mindspring.com
The National Carillon, an impressive 50m tower on Aspen Island, host to 55 bronze bells, is generally lit overnight with white spotlights. Occasionally, it is lit with blue or red lights, and to me, becomes truly stunning. Shining through the pre-dawn mist on the lake seemed to make it stand out all the more.
The normally unblemished glass-like surface of the lake was instead strewn with all sorts of debris washed into the lake by recent rains.
And above the mist layer, short star trails can be seen in the sky. These are a result of the 30 second exposure used for this photograph.

Photography notes ...
The photograph was taken using the following hardware configuration ...
(Year of manufacture indicated in braces where known.)
- Hasselblad 500C/M body (1994).
- Hasselblad CFV-50c Digital Back for Hasselblad V mount camera.
- Hasselblad Focusing Screen for the CFV-50c digital back, with focusing prism and crop markings.
- Hasselblad 45 Degree Viewfinder PME-45 42297 (2001).
- Hasselblad Carl Zeiss lens - Sonnar 150mm f/4 CFi - Nr 8912760 - Hasselblad - Prontor shutter (2003).
- FotodioX B60 Lens Hood for Select Hasselblad Telephoto CF Lenses
I acquired the photograph (8272 x 6200 pixels) with an ISO of 100, exposure time of 30 seconds, and aperture of f/8.
Post-processing ...
Finder - Removed the CF card from the camera digital back and placed it in a Lexar 25-in-1 USB card reader. Then used Finder on my MacBook Air to download the raw image file (3FR extension) from the card.
Lightroom - Imported the 3FR image. Used the Map module to add the location details to the EXIF header. Applied various lighting and color adjustments in the Develop module.
Lightroom - Used a Lens Profile to apply some white vignette to the corners (Zeiss Distagon T* 2.8/15 ZF.2).
Lightroom - Saved the Develop module adjustments as a Preset (20160618-008).
Lightroom - Output the image as a JPEG file from the Library module using the "Maximum" quality option (8272 x 6200 pixels).
PhotoSync - Copied the JPEG file to my iPad Mini for review, enjoyment, and posting to social media.
I was going to put boxes around what everything was but decided instead to just list the most obvious
Working front to back
Filter holder, polarize filter, three paint pens(white silver, black) two Lexar 2gig cards, card reader two 2gig thumb drives, angle view finder, flash diffuser, ND graduated filter, macro slide mount, Pentax remote, Raynox 250 macro lens, lens brush, Tiffen UV filter Pentax 80-320 lens, sigma 2x tele converter, lens adapter for reversing lens, Sigma 50-500 lens cap, Sigma 10-20, Sigma 70-300, Sigma 50mm macro, Pentax 100mm macro,Back row K20D with Sigma 24-135, K10D with 18-55, K100D with 55-200, Missing from picture,Pentax *ist DL, Giotto Monopod, Manfrotto 190 tripod, Opus 1204 tripod, Lowepro 300, Tamrac Expedition 5, Lowepro Compact AW.
Now, all of this usually accompanies me on my outings minus the K100D, and before anyone asks my favorite lens is my Sigma 10-20, next is the 24-135. Macro lens favorite the Pentax 100, but I do use the Sigma 50mm macro quite often, depending on the Situation.
I frequently, for lack of a better word, get "accused" of being in publications that I have never been in. This is image is the one I am frequently been told was there favorite National Geographic cover. I have always wanted to be a National Geographic photographer....
Again the story behind the image is different than the image portrays. I was at a used camel lot (I'm not making that up) photographing camels. I saw this man I looked at him, held my camera up which is the universal sign for "can I take a picture of you?" he waved is hand in a "no" gesture. As I turned away a large male camel and I were face to face. The Male camel was in "ready to rut" mode and proceeded to slime me with the foulest smelling slime/goo/slobber/goo I have had the misfortune to ever smell. Let alone be coated with. Apparently female camels find this 'scent" attractive. This was the Bedouin who had just turned me down for a photograph's camel who has now just confused me for a girl camel.e rushes over shoos the horny beast away and looks at me now covered in camel goo, which is dripping off my nose, glasses, camera. Trying to stifle a laugh, he gives me a nod that is now "ok" to take his picture. This is tat picture. I had to be hosed down from head to toe before I could get back on the bus.
This image was captured during my American Photo Mentor Trek workshop to Egypt. with a Nikon D2x camera at 200iso with a 70-210 mm VR II lens using the Nikon electronic file format (.Nef) Shot on Lexar 16 gigabyte Flash media.
File was post processed using capture NX software. All additional post work was done in Photoshop CC using Nik Collection by DxO Color Efex Pro plugins.
Final file is stored and scaled using Perfect Resize (Genuine Fractals.)

Today Jackie and I walked Ruby into a local wood . I downloaded the images and then my computer had a wobbly after I had formatted the SD card. So after a couple of hours of mucking about I recovered a couple of todays images via Lexar's recovery software and so just a couple of images finally!!!

okok, here's the story, this was how it was supposed to happen, I was supposed to go out with a bunch of friends and family to the birdpark today, but I checked the weather report since it's been wet almost everyday for the past week. My house is cold cold cold by the way. So I told everyone that it would rain for friday, saturday and sunday in the afternoon, I said that why don't we do it earlier, think everyone has something on in the morning so I went alone.
I was in such a rush to evade the rain that I forgot to bring the discount coupons Mr gan keng tiong gave me. Shieks, that's full price for admission thens. Man Jurong Birdpark is darn far! Thinking of going again next week maybe with jeremy but I think he would be more interested in Orchard lighting. Ok then here's the other bad news, my card was semi toast, lost a good deal of photos, LEXAR, I'm disappointed, I'm going to sell you away cheap. Thankfully this photo came out. One of my favourite for the day.I love the water giving it a nicer bright outline while my main subject is squashed between elements left and right.
Meritato Riposo
