An impression of the Queen's Birthday party in Amsterdam before the drama of Queen's day crash in Apeldoorn. CNN video. Five people were killed Thursday after a man tried to attack the Dutch royal family during a Queen's Day celebration by crashing his car near the royal family's bus, Dutch police said. The next day the driver died in the hospital after attempted attack on Dutch royal family. We had a great day in Amsterdam but after we came home we saw the shocking news on television.
We had a great time on our Queen's day more than 600.000 people join the party in Amsterdam. It's a crazy that this one weirdo man spoiled our national celebration trying to hit the open-top bus carrying Queen Beatrix of Netherlands.

De dader is de zesde dode, hij bezweek aan zijn verwondingen. Wij hadden een leuke dag in Amsterdam en zagen het nieuws pas toen we thuis kwamen.

For those who wants to visit Amsterdam, 30th of April is the best time of year to visit. Queen's Day (Dutch: Koninginnedag) on April 30 is a national holiday in the Netherlands, It started as a celebration of the Dutch monarchy. It is mainly known for the 'vrijmarkt' (literally 'freemarket'), the one day in the year that anyone is allowed to sell anything in the streets. The night before is celebrated as 'Koninginnenacht' (queen's night). Music and dancing on the street or sometimes on the boat. Oranjegekte (orange folly) is a phenomenon in the Netherlands that occurs during queen’s day, international football championships and sometimes at other sporting events. The most important characteristic is the colour orange that dominates the street sight with flags and banners, clothing and even ordinary consumer goods.
Still working on my Blurb photo book. About 30% finished. Still going through my archives where I found this Photo taken in Amsterdam, Brouwersgracht in the Jordaan. What a party on the streets and on the canals of Amsterdam.
Vorig jaar was Koninginnedag in Amsterdam net zoals altijd een geslaagd feest. Met bijna een miljoen bezoekers was het gezellig en druk in Amsterdam. 30 April 2009: Koninginnedag! Erg jammer dat de Koninklijke familie dit jaar naar Apeldoorn gaan en dus het feest in Amsterdam (alweer) moeten missen. Toch jammer, want eerlijk is eerlijk, nergens zo'n groot feest tijdens Koninginnedag als in Amsterdam ;-)
Ben nog steeds bezig met m'n Blurb fotoboek. Zo'n beetje 30% gedaan. Ik ging door mijn archieven en kwam deze leuke foto nog tegen. Wat een feest toch!

New Orleans by all accounts is a fascinating place, those that have visited or live there will know what I mean.
The revelry and easy atmosphere, particularly in the French Quarter, is a huge draw for so many visitors. And while the clubs and bars will fix you a variety of known and specialty drinks, you can stay and enjoy the music and atmosphere, or take your drink and go. I liked that part and liked it a lot..:-)
