Louisville KY off Westport Road behind the Wal-Mart. Pancake needed a pit-stop.

Prior to the Thunder Air Show - Vintage Warbirds - Bowman Field Airport, Hangar 5, Louisville, KY - He'd said many of these planes were previously Japanese or Romanian fighter planes that were going to be scrapped and were bought to be used here.

The horse to the right - his name is "Medicine Hat". Sally is on the left.

This was the stairway up to the Fire Tower at Bernheim Forest. It was not difficult at all - Pancake pulled me up much like a ski tow. We followed a Mom and her little 5 year old daughter up so we knew we shouldn't have a problem. It is so beautiful here.

History

Isaac W. Bernheim established Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest in 1929. I. W. Bernheim (1848-1945) was a German immigrant who settled in Kentucky. From a humble beginning as a peddler, he became successful in the whiskey distilling business where he established the I.W. Harper brand. Grateful for his good fortune, he gave Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest to the people of Kentucky as a gift.

I'm told these stunning gates lead to Papa John's (pizza) home in Anchorage (Louisville) Kentucky. The residents apparently are up in arms as he has a helicopter which picks him up there occasionally and they have some environmental concerns about his one little private helicopter. I do hear many flying overhead frequently so it's difficult to ascertain which one is his (I'm 10 minutes away). They all "pretty much" sound alike. www.wdrb.com/story/31950445/john-schnatters-helicopter-us...

That vintage feel of evening shuttering the doors with steam blowing across the body of a person passing by those unopened doors of this empty university while online advertisements ring in my ears of graduation incentives.

The Crowned Lapwing prefers dry, open habitats, either with or without scattered trees. It has benefited from the habitat impacts of both affluent and poor communities; golf courses, sports fields and airports, on one hand, and overgrazing on the other. In some areas, the presence of Crowned Plovers is an indicator of mismanagement of ranchlands. In South Africa, Crowned Plovers move locally in response to changing conditions. Crowned Plovers, like many of the wader species breeding in South Africa, have a long breeding season, often starting in August and ending in May. In addition, a pair may have more than one successful breeding attempt. If nests or chicks are lost, further attempts to breed may occur. They lay two eggs in a scrape in the sand, lined with vegetation or small pebbles. The eggs take about a month to hatch and the chicks between four and five weeks to fledge.

The photo was taken during December 2017 at Rietvlei Nature Reserve, Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa.

Taking a hike at Beckley Creek Park (The Parklands) in Louisville, KY.

Pancake is a trained Medical Service Dog - she helps with balance, mobility and disequilibrium (ruptured brain aneurysm) as I am unable to detect changes in grades on the ground nor at times walk in a straight line, so I am able to hike with her now more confidently in places I would have been unable to before. Also keeps me from knocking shelves over in stores etc...due an intermittent neurological disorder. She also alerts me when the oven timer sounds, alarm clock sounds, etc...She is an amazing animal, and she was a rescue.

On Saturday, April 10, 2004, the Louisville Dog Run Association and Kentucky Department of Parks opened the Sawyer Dog Park. Sawyer Dog Park was the first official off-leash dog park in our community.

Sawyer Dog Park is located in the northeast corner of the park property across Freys Hill Road from the main park entrance. The park spans across approximately six acres and is divided into three two-acre areas: one for small dogs (dogs under 30 pounds) and two for all dogs. Membership to the Louisville Dog Run Association is required to enter the dog park. For more information on the Louisville Dog Run Association, please visit www.louisvilledogs.com.
