Now, this little Ford Fusion was driving down the road with no problem. It did pass me on the right at one juncture. He has a tinted license plate cover. This is the exact location where I was pulled over by a nice LMPD officer who indicated he could not read my plates. He said there was a glare on it and he could not read it 300 ft. away. (Note - the sun was setting at the time). He said the plate cover had some mud on it.

I asked the nice officer if I could get out of the car so he could show me the problem. He said I could.

As I exited the vehicle he grabbed my arm, twisting it, and slammed me into the car and proceeded to cuff me, while stating, "Is this what you like?". I asked why he chose to do that. He said "Because you moved too slow". No, officer. I expect you to be able to see well, hear well and act professionally, as that is your job which you accept a salary for. Your job is not to rough up, bruise and maim individuals you believe you can for the "sport" of it. You were well aware I was not a threat to you and your partner. "Serve and Protect" - remember?

He then said I was being detained and walked me to the back of my car. He took my purse (fanny pack) with him into the patrol car and sat with it over 30 minutes. He did go through my address book as he commented on it's contents when he returned. I suggested to his partner perhaps this officer might want to invest in a good pair of glasses and hearing aids.

He gave me a ticket for "improper display of registration plates". This occurred on Good Friday.

I then drove to Auto Zone with the plate cover. Auto Zone stated they were legal in Kentucky but they did then replace the plate cover with a clear one at my request.

The man at Auto Zone told me he also had a problem, and then went on to tell me about the unlawful searches on others that have occurred here in Louisville. He said men and boys were being bodily searched, unlawfully, by police officers while on the road. This one was fairly recent: youtu.be/LtQG0JlCORI

I met a nice lady today who told me the same thing happened to her, and many of her Church friends. She says they just pay them and don't attempt to fight them, as they want a peaceful existence. Even though they did nothing wrong and the charge was false.

I am inviting others from law enforcement AND the military to visit Louisville - they are welcome to ride in the back seat of my vehicle, hunkered down, if/when the next violation occurs. Without identifying themselves, of course. Let's see if *they* get roughed up. I'm 5/2 and weigh 115 lbs. I wonder if they would do the same to someone who was a male, 6' weighing 250 lbs.

The above car doesn't seem to be having any problems.

Update: 16 November 2018

Appeared in court - with the help of an outstanding Pubic Defender (Christopher Schramm) all charges were dropped. The attorney also advised me of my right to institute legal proceedings against LMPD if I so chose.

It is indeed unfortunate those with any type of hearing, auditory processing or language barriers are not able to be aware of what, exactly, their rights are.

Update: April 14, 2023

In light of the recent horrendous mass shooting here in Louisville, KY this week on April 10, 2023, a good deal of retrospect is due. Sometimes seeing both sides of the fight to survive makes a world of difference. My heart breaks for this community, their families, the deceased but most especially for 26 year old LMPD Officer Nickolas Wilt, a rookie police officer who previously served as an EMT, firefighter, and emergency dispatcher and is now clinging to life today. We have shootings here every day but this one....this one hits home.

To the officers involved in my above encounter with them on April 16, 2018 - I do owe you both my sincerest apologies for what transpired. No harm done and I hope we can all rethink our roles in this world. Life is precious. Value it - I am thankful I am not walking in your shoes and proud that you do. Thank you. I do understand now how unimportant and petty the 04/16/18 incident really was and appreciate the learning opportunity from you all. You are indeed heroes.

U.S. Strategic Command - "Peace is Our Profession"

www.stratcom.mil/

I was told STRATCOM was where President George Bush was taken for safety after September 11, 2001, as this article states - www.nonpareilonline.com/news/local/president-bush-made-ke... however this article states it was Laura Bush who was taken there for safety: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laura_Bush

Located at Offutt Air Force Base near Omaha, Neb., U.S. Strategic Command is one of ten unified commands in the Department of Defense.

General John E. Hyten is the commander, USSTRATCOM, and serves as the senior commander of unified military forces from all four branches of the military assigned to the command. The USSTRATCOM commander is the leader, steward and advocate of the nation's strategic capabilities. USSTRATCOM integrates and coordinates the necessary command and control capability to provide support with the most accurate and timely information for the President, the Secretary of Defense, other national leadership and combatant commanders.

The mission of USSTRATCOM is to deter strategic attack and employ forces, as directed, to guarantee the security of our Nation and our Allies. The command's assigned responsibilities include strategic deterrence; nuclear operations; space operations; joint electronic spectrum operations; global strike; missile defense; and analysis and targeting. USSTRATCOM's forces and capabilities underpin and enable all other Joint Force operations.

USSTRATCOM combines the synergy of the U.S. legacy nuclear command and control mission with responsibility for space operations, global strike, and global missile defense. This dynamic command gives national leadership a unified resource for greater understanding of specific threats around the world and the means to respond to those threats rapidly.

The Global Operations Center, or GOC, is the nerve center for USSTRATCOM. The GOC is responsible for the global situational awareness of the Commander, USSTRATCOM, and is the mechanism by which he exercises operational command and control of the Nation's global strategic forces.

While working at #Honeywell here in Kentucky (2700 Blankenbaker Pky, 150, Louisville, KY 40299 502- 297-5700), we frequently received calls from install and repair techs from Stratcom who were unable to activate or engage their fire & security systems. Honeywell knew beforehand these systems did not work and would not work, but did not advise these facilities of such. Nor were we permitted to advise these install techs of the known failure - we were simply instructed to state "send it back - we'll replace it" IF they called in. This also included other installations, government agencies and facilities such as the New York Fire Department. This is why anything with the name Honeywell (inside or out) no longer exists in my home. I do not recall their new company names now. Honeywell also has (or had) an aerospace division, home & commercial video security systems and an appliance division. The names of these companies and divisions have been changed to protect the guilty. It is difficult for someone who has ethics and integrity to work for a defense contractor with none. We were also permitted to take home all of our log books (including setup parameters, customer names, MAC IDs, serial numbers, phone numbers and contact information for every call taken, training notes and equipment. These have since been given to someone who I'm sure did the right thing. I am very grateful to whomever the security guard somewhere was who apologized on behalf of the conscience of the USA - he was not from Honeywell.

Thanks to Sabrina Starr and Angela Gaddy from Spherion in Georgia for giving me the opportunity to see how things work here in Kentucky.

I fought for this job because I liked the building. It was solid, it was low to the ground, and is was close to Taco Bell and McDonalds which allowed me the time to grab a quick bite during a 30-minute lunch break. Location was everything. My boss at Honeywell said they selected me "because they needed a woman".

And a very, very special thank you to one of my old bosses, Sanford Zeitler, USMC, who I drove up to NJ to discuss the situation with, among others. He advised me not to return to Kentucky. Sandy said, "Let it go, honey....you can't fight them", and took long, strenuous walks with me each day as my legs had started giving out while in Kentucky, I was falling frequently and was having difficulty speaking. Many times he would be 50' in front of me, turning around frequently yelling, "C'mon honey, walk!!!" Here was a man nearly 20 years my senior, leading the way, showing me what true strength and true grit really was, when he could barely walk himself or lift his feet up off the ground as he shuffled along. He took me up some pretty good hills. RIP, Sandy.

These two kind gentlemen are working on a huge industrial construction project locally. Their company (DynaSteel) hails from Georgia, USA -- it was quite evident they were not a Kentucky-based business as their work practices were in accordance with the recommended OSHA policies and procedures set in place to prevent workplace accidents and injuries. Perhaps Kentucky employers will learn this one day.

There is always standing water (or whatever type of sludge/oil it is) at the bottom of these drainage outlets. They do not drain and are never flushed. No one checks the pitch on these storm or sanitary sewers when they are installed, hence it sets the stage for all types of infestation breeding grounds, bacteria and "biofilm" as our Mayor Fischer called it. If the waste disposed into these sewers contains any type of raw animal or medical by-products you have a problem, Louisville. There is a drain behind my house that always holds standing water or whatever it is - no one inspected the pitch. Where is the grease collection system? Where were your inspectors? Where are the contractors who did this work? This is typical throughout Louisville. No neighborhood is exempt. And they say, "Welcome to the Ohio Valley"?

Sign spotted in front of a kidney dialysis center off Westport Road, Louisville, KY. The foul odor emanating from the HVAC system exhaust behind this dialysis center sickened my dog - she began to gag and vomit. I feel sorry for the surrounding businesses (restaurants, grocery stores, etc...).. There is a broken water/sewer riser next to this facility. Whoever owns this property does not maintain it.

It's fun living next to this work being done - the sound penetrates the ground to the point the people in the gym were asking what it was. Now a few know. The drilling sound (or vibrations) is a tad different than underground drilling or underground water movement and can have an odd effect on the animals in the area. This is a short walk from my house, as long as one knows how to survive the walk without getting run over. This is not a good area to live if one can hear or is attuned to various movements of the ground.

Behind this site is the Gene Snyder Expressway (I-295), one of the more notorious highways here. The center grassy area is a popular dumping ground for mattresses. Cars frequently are spotted there crashed or in ditches.

When Pancake got lost a few years ago. She was clocked by a Ford employee doing 60 MPH down this Gene Snyder Freeway. She is a fast dog. Her genetic testing indicated she has some hound in her - she loves to run.

The total production of corn in the US for the year 2013-14 is reported to be 13.016 billion bushels of which the major use is for manufacture of ethanol and its co-product (Distillers' Dried Grains with Solubles) accounting for 37% (27% + 10%) or 4,845 million bushels (3,552 + 1,293). The other uses are given in the table.[6]

'Other processing' includes the production of High Fructose Corn Syrup, sweeteners, starch, beverage alcohol, and

cereals.

See also US Agricultural subsidies

Corn in the United States has been subsidized since the 1930s, when a drop in demand from post-war Europe caused a food glut and prices crashed. In the 1980s, subsidies increased substantially.[15]

US subsidies for corn have averaged 4.7 billion dollars per year over the twenty years from 1995-2014 inclusive.[16] 2014 projections were that the US would spend $97.29 billion/year on farm and food programs over the next decade.[17]

In 2014, the "direct payments" portion of subsidies was abolished, and subsidies were mostly replaced with two programs. Farmers may pick Price Loss Coverage (a guarantee that the farmer will get a certain price for their crop) and Agricultural Risk Coverage (which guarantees a certain amount of revenue).[16][15]

The subsidies have been criticized for:

high and unpredictable expense to taxpayers

disincentivizing crop diversification and planning for extreme weather[17]

harming public health; supporting meat and processed food by subsidizing durable staples (mostly corn and soy) rather than fruit and vegetables ("specialty crops")[15]

destroying the livelihoods of small farmers in the developing world by dumping (by Oxfam, the World Bank and the International Food Policy Research Institute among others)[18]
