Contemporary Windischgarsten was originally founded as part of the Dukedom of Bavaria. During the Carolingian dynasty, around the year 800, a command post was likely set up with the name "Waldbergland" where a group of Alpine-Slavs were concentrated. In the 11th Century, this settlement became central to the Archdiocese of Bamberg. As the pilgrim population swelled during the First Crusade, the settlement became a hub of religious activity.

Očistili smo gozd, zgledalo je čisto malo in nedolžno, dokler nismo odkrili vej in listja, .bilo je tako veliko, da bo treba še. Pa ful naporno vlečt nazaj smeti iz gozda na vrh hriba, najrajši bi jih pa smetiščarjem pred vrata stresla ... 270.000 prostovoljcev je čistilo, bravo!

We cleaned our nature, it was a nice day, very warm and sunny. Very hard work, but it's worth it. I don't like people who trash nature, and hope now authority will punish them! Very big problem in Slovenia with illegal trash because nobody persecuted them. Hope we made it clear this year we are not going to allow that any more.
In Slovenia on 24.3.2012 270.000 volunteers cleaned illegal trash from nature - Do it - Think green, respect the nature!

Cowardy Custard is a musical revue and was one of the last Noël Coward shows staged during his life. It was devised by Gerard Frow, Alan Strachan and Wendy Toye. A book, also titled Cowardy Custard, was published in connection with the revue, similarly celebrating the Coward image.

My Estonia was planting trees with citizens in Tondiloo park under the project "Greening Lasnamäe", initiated by a dream submitted during the "Let's Do It!" brainstorming campaign.
