It was about this time last year that I began to seriously consider tackling my own 365 project head on. I was feeling like I needed something to get my creative juices flowing again. I needed something to keep me going, something that I could call my own (funny how that didn't work out for me, but whatever). I had some serious doubts as to whether or not I'd be able to make it through, but I knew I had to try.

When I started, my only goal was to finish. I just wanted to make it through 365 days with 365 photographs and hope that throughout my journey that I'd figure some stuff out. I didn't know what exactly, but something. And I did. I found pieces of myself that I didn't know existed and it was and still is an amazing feeling. As I shot my way through the year though, I felt like something was missing. I began to regret that I didn't have a theme or direction for my project. I began to wish I had thought things through a little more than just leaping into the deep end of a year of shooting with out a solid plan on how to get to the finish line.

Now, as I stand staring down the barrel of 2010 I find myself faced with the same dilemma. As much as I have wanted to call it quits throughout this process, I'm finding the thought of it coming to an end unimaginable. My camera has helped me to look at things and more importantly people (myself and others) in a completely new way, which is why I am taking on a 2nd year of this project. I haven't figured it all out yet, but I'm working on it. I just know that when I look back on 2010, I can say that I grew even more than I knew possible as an individual and have something to share with others.

This week in 1956, TWA Flight 2, a Lockheed Super Constellation, collided with United Air Lines Flight 718, a Douglas DC-7, over the Grand Canyon. Both aircraft fell into the canyon. There were no survivors among the 128 persons aboard the flights. This accident was a catalyst for changes to the air traffic control system and led to the creation of the Federal Aviation Agency. lessonslearned.faa.gov/ll_main.cfm?TabID=1&LLID=50
