When I got here around twilight there were quite a few bats buzzing around me. That was an interesting experience. I waited until they were gone and got this.

"And I'm not here to be
The saviour you long for
Only the one you don't
Are you watching me with eyes of a predator
As you move towards the door?"

I honestly was OBSESSED with these eyes from Tville - platinum eyes. I was like they were the PERFECT wolf yellowgold. It's hard to find a good set, and the idea of having my sweet Lenore burning in moonlight as the change takes her normally green eyes to wolf-yellow.... and maybe one day I'll do a bloodier pic of this, but the image was so strong. The fall, collapse, the world is fading into feral teeth and hungers... and those eyes open, wolf yellow, ready to run free beneath the moon.
Lenore Lake is located in Hybel Canyon between Soap Lake and Alkali Lake in eastern Washington State. Judging from the white soap scum around the edge of this lake, it is pretty soapy too...
This is a single image HDR shot. The RAW file was first slightly processed and touched up in Lightroom, and then a TIFF was imported into Aurora HDR 2018 where it was tone mapped. The final image had 3 layers: One for the sky, one for the ground and one to fix some dark spots in the background.
My Dollywardrobe custom girl is here! She's so adorable! She arrived wearing a gorgeous black dollywardrobe dress that I probably will never take off. It's so perfect for her. <3333
I have to work on her Saffy scalp ...her curls are all over the place! Hope I can fix it or I might start playing with scalps! :P

We're still in the archives here - this picture of the elevator at Lenore was taken in 2022, during a very icy February. There were huge pile-ups on the Trans-Canada not far from here on this day, and I almost did a triple salchow when I stepped out of the car to photograph in front of the elevator.
Lenore, Manitoba, Canada.
At one time, grain elevators could be found every 8 to 10 miles along every railway line in western Canada. That allowed most farmers to make a round trip to an elevator to deliver and sell their grain with a horse and wagon in one day. From that elevator the grain would be shipped to ports on the Great Lakes or the west coast, across Canada and around the world. Grain elevators started appearing across the Prairies in the late 19th century, and the number of grain elevators peaked in 1938, when there were nearly 6,000 primary (country) elevators in the Prairie provinces. Many factors led to the decline of the primary elevator: the Depression, increased mechanization, improved roads for transportation, rural depopulation, the closing of branch lines of the railway and the buying out or merging of the grain companies and the building of large, concrete grain terminals. In 2022 only around 120 old wooden elevators still survived in Manitoba. Many of the old, wooden elevators have been destroyed – burned down, struck by lightning, demolished - but some of them still remain - weathered but beautiful and stalwart.

Ah broken is the golden bowl! the spirit flown forever!
Let the bell toll!--a saintly soul floats on the Stygian river;
And, Guy De Vere, hast thou no tear?--weep now or never more!
See! on yon drear and rigid bier low lies thy love, Lenore!
Come! let the burial rite be read--the funeral song be sung!--
An anthem for the queenliest dead that ever died so young--
A dirge for her the doubly dead in that she died so young.
"Wretches! ye loved her for her wealth and hated her for her pride,
"And when she fell in feeble health, ye blessed her--that she died!
"How shall the ritual, then, be read?--the requiem how be sung
"By you--by yours, the evil eye,--by yours, the slanderous tongue
"That did to death the innocent that died, and died so young?"
Peccavimus; but rave not thus! and let a Sabbath song
Go up to God so solemnly the dead may feel so wrong!
The sweet Lenore hath "gone before," with Hope, that flew beside
Leaving thee wild for the dear child that should have been thy bride--
For her, the fair and debonair, that now so lowly lies,
The life upon her yellow hair but not within her eyes--
The life still there, upon her hair--the death upon her eyes.
"Avaunt! to-night my heart is light. No dirge will I upraise,
"But waft the angel on her flight with a Pæan of old days!
"Let no bell toll!--lest her sweet soul, amid its hallowed mirth,
"Should catch the note, as it doth float up from the damnéd Earth.
"To friends above, from fiends below, the indignant ghost is riven--
"From Hell unto a high estate far up within the Heaven--
"From grief and groan, to a golden throne, beside the King of Heaven."

Carl Zipf Lock Shop used to have a very old, very beat up neon key-shaped sign. I wish I could have photographed it, but it was removed a year or so before we went on a sign-hunting expedition in Columbus -- this is the sign that replaced it. I appreciate that they didn't replace it with something boring but instead chose a modernized version of their old sign.
