Pareidolia is defined as a situation in which someone sees a pattern or image of something that did not exist.

This small sculpture I found on a recent trip intrigued me enough to have an impromptu photo session. I'm so glad I did. The image has seized my imagination, lending itself to stories galore.

… at the majesty of trees :)

Another textural interpretation of trees. I do rather seem besotted by them just now (the trees certainly... perhaps wobbly shots too :) ).

I'm playing with a more impressionistic style at the moment, mainly because ICMs seem to lend themselves to that. I keep hoping I'll get back to some real photography again and suddenly transmute into a normal photographer. I delude myself, i know :)

Thank you for taking the time to look. I hope you enjoy the image. Happy 100x and Donnerstagsmonocrom

Chasing the sunset again this week and it fizzled out this night. There are small open area's of water around the lake that lend themselves nicely for reflections.

this silly hand, which is flexible, belonged to my mom... I found it in a desk drawer and it called out to me... the perfect image for Macro Monday - Keychain...

I miss my mom so much... she is always with me.

1/23/1914 - 10/16/2003

She was so talented and an amazing seamstress... made all my clothes growing up and many bridal gowns and their wedding party... she could do just about anything.... and thankfully, I took after her... except for the sewing garments... but I've made a ton of quilts!

Thanks for helping me Donny!

A few ridges reach out from Fantasy Canyon, carrying the same eroded forms across the landscape. At dusk, earth's shadow (blue) reached up toward the Belt of Venus (pink) to lend an otherworldly atmosphere to the intricate sculptures.

The Belt of Venus is the atmospheric backscatter of red light before dawn or after sunset.

The Old Town Hall in Bamberg is quite a curiosity: The frescoes that adorn the facades are as amazing as the story behind the building's construction.

According to legend the bishop of Bamberg did not grant the citizens any land for the construction of a town hall. This prompted the townsfolk to ram stakes into the river Regnitz to create an artificial island, on which they built the town hall they so badly wanted.

The Old Town Hall's frescoes never fail to impress as they lend the facades a three-dimensional quality achieved with trompe d'oeil architecture. A special detail is a continual source of mirth among tourists: the leg of a cherub protudes out of the wall as a sculpture. Today the Old Town Hall accommodates the prestigious rococo hall and the Ludwig Collection. Source: en.bamberg.info/poi/old_town_hall-4656/

A bridge to replace the Lendal ferry service, was first suggested in 1838 The ferry had operated from Barker Tower, on the south-west bank, to Lendal Tower.

in 1860 and the foundation stone of the original bridge, designed by William Dredge, was laid. Then disaster struck. In 1861 the original bridge collapsed during construction, killing five men. The architect Thomas Page, who also designed Skeldergate Bridge in York and Westminster Bridge in London was brought in. The bridge was redesigned and finally opened in 1863.

Lendal Bridge is an iron bridge with details in the Gothic style popular in Victorian England. The ornate parapet of the bridge features the white rose of York, the crossed keys of the Diocese of York and the lions of England. Additional ironwork includes York’s coat of arms and the initials V & A, representing Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.

Having left our cases at the Hilton we wandered into York over the river Ouse via Lendal bridge looking for lunch. This pleasure boat was passing with very few passenger onboard. It is a tourist picture but there again we are on holiday.

Credit for this goes to my friend Alfredo for lending me his macro adaptor.

I had a feeling that this was going to be an extremely busy week for me, so maybe I'll just make this a macro week... we'll see.

Also, Happy Diwali to all my friends who celebrate it.
