Red Legged Partridge - Alectoris Rufa aka French Partridge
The red-legged partridge (Alectoris rufa) is a gamebird in the pheasant family.
It is sometimes known as French partridge, to distinguish it from the English or grey partridge.
This partridge breeds naturally in southwestern Europe (France, Iberia and northwest Italy). It has become naturalised in flat areas of England and Wales, where it was introduced as a game species, and has been seen breeding as far north as Cumbria and eastern Yorkshire and the western Isle of Man. It is replaced in southeastern Europe by the very similar rock partridge (Alectoris graeca). It is a non-migratory terrestrial species, which forms flocks outside the breeding season.
This species breeds on dry lowlands, such as farmland and open stony areas, laying its eggs in a ground nest.
The natural range of the red-legged partridge is France, Spain and Portugal. However, it was introduced from France to Great Britain in the 18th century, and has since become an important gamebird there. As it is a mediterranean species, it thrives in hot, dry areas with sandy soil. The ability to breed two clutches simultaneously has led to it being extensively reared in captivity, and released for shooting. The breeding of chukars (Alectoris chukar) and red-legged/chukar hybrids is prohibited, due to its impact on wild populations of red-legs. The red-legged partridge is believed to be in decline across its range.
"Macro Mondays" and "Glass"

With this topic, you first realize how many objects in a household are made of glass. We have different forms of these bulbs, they are screwed into a white cube in which the cable is built in. By touching the upper surface the bulb shines, a very practical light source in the evening and at night.
I wish you a successful start into the new week, dear friends.Remain attentive with "AHA".
Then we will get through time well!

I have a shop light that has LED bulbs in a tube. Each bulb is separated from its neighbor by about twelve millimeters.. This one only works half way. This is the spot where the light stops. Happy Macro Mondays everyone! Thanks to anyone that cares to stop to look, fave or leave a comment.

This massive rock sits proudly in the middle of Deadman's Beach. I've often wondered how it ended up there—what geological forces shaped its journey?
Today, as I looked at the photo, it struck me: the rock resembles a giant bao bun buried in the sand. Naturally, this led me down a rabbit hole exploring the history of bao buns. Originating in Northern China, bao dates back to the Three Kingdoms period in the 3rd century, with some evidence pointing as far back as 400 BC.
And then it all made sense: giant, rock-eating aliens with a penchant for Chinese cuisine must have dropped this here during one of their visits in ancient times. Mystery solved. You're welcome!
Thank you all for the kind likes and comments—they’re always deeply appreciated!
P.S. Speaking of buns, if you’ve got 3 minutes, I recommend this touching animation about motherhood and buns:
This is my little LED pocket spotlight. It measures about 2 inches across and up and down about 1 and half inches (including the mount shown at the top in the photo).
I use this little fill light all of the time, it casts great shadows and gives a nice clean light source. It was fun to shoot this little handy tool, only I had to find ANOTHER light source to help light the bezel around the light panel. :)

"When the words weigh heavy on the heart
I am lost and led only by the stars
Cage me like an animal
A crown with gems and gold
Eat me like a cannibal
Chase the neon throne
Breathe in, breathe out
Let the human in
Breathe in, breathe out
And let it in
Plants awoke and they slowly grow
Beneath the skin"

The theme for today in the Kerrisdale Cameras daily photo challenge is “Geometric”. This was a tough one. I thought about geometry from school which led me to think lines, angles, triangles and squares. I remembered this pedestrian bridge and decided to make it my subject but I needed to wait for the right time of day to get the shadows just right. #kcphotochallenge

My Yema LED watch - a modern reincarnation of an original design from the 1970’s. My very first watch when I was a kid was a red LED black plastic thing … and I thought it was the most amazing technological masterpiece! Of course it stopped working in less than a year and being a future engineer I pulled it apart and eventually it got discarded.

The subject for this weeks Smile On Saturday 'Words', had me pondering on what words I could use. Putting on a bit of music to help me think, I looked up at my computer screen and saw loads of words! Words (and music) I have loved for over fifty years...topic sorted.
After exhibiting in Antwerp and Venice, in 1999 the company moved to a new house known as Kanaal, located in Wijnegem, twenty minutes east of Antwerp. Originally built in 1857, the sprawling site was a former distillery and malting complex. The existing architecture included brick warehouses and concrete grain silos located along the banks of the Albert Canal.
The initial development of the Kanaal included the installation of corporate offices and studios. This was quickly followed by the acquisition of permanent art installations, such as Anish Kapoor's At the Edge of the World. A plan has been devised to make Kanaal a cultural and residential center, a process that began in the early 2000s.
The site's transformation plans have built on the character and history of the original buildings to give the whole area an authentic new lease of life. This is a central feature of many of our projects. Dick Vervoordt led an ambitious plan to combine the efforts of three teams of architects - Bogdan & Van Broeck, Coussée & Goris, Stéphane Beel - with landscaper Michel Desvigne. Quality of life was a top priority and plans were made to adapt the design from the inside out, converting old buildings into new living and working spaces.
In 2017, the Antwerp gallery moved to a new space at Kanaal, opening with a monumental retrospective of Kazuo Shiraga.
The gallery's first program included a specialty in post-war and contemporary art with a particular focus on art from Europe, Japan and Korea, particularly art from the ZERO and Gutai movements. The focus on Dansaekhwa followed, as the gallery's program and its participation in global art fairs grew in importance and its roster of artists grew.

For the Macro Monday challenge (Feb 9th 2015) "This I love "
I'm completely hooked on shooting glass in all its forms. And it's a long while since I brought out my marbles!! ;o)
So I chose to use just one tiny green LED bulb to light this marble from below the dimpled glass surface its resting on
