Hubbell Elementary School students inspect soil and learn about composting in the Hubbell School garden.
Hubbell Elementary School held its second annual Garden Planting Day on April 24. All of Hubbell’s students in kindergarten through fifth grade planted a seed or seedling into the Hubbell School garden.
The Garden Planting Day is part of a comprehensive school garden program that includes thirteen raised vegetable beds, a school garden club, garden tasting days, and an indoor garden cart with grow lights that provide year-long horticulture lessons to the students.
“The goal of the Hubbell School garden is to demonstrate how food is grown, teach basic botany, reinforce good nutritional habits and promote the benefits of spending time outside,” said Jacob Lederman, Hubbell School Garden Committee Chair.
The Hubbell School garden is sponsored by the Hubbell School Garden committee and funded by the Hubbell PTA.

Bloom Twins are a Ukrainian-born English pop music group made up of twin sisters Anna and Sonia Kuprienko. They refer to the style of their music as "dark pop." The girls released their first digital single in June 2013 and are currently producing an EP due in the fourth quarter of 2014.
Sister act Bloom Twins merge several genres, adding flute, harmonica, piano and electronica to a diverse vocal style to create something new, fresh and unique.
After uploading their debut track ‘Fahrenheit’ to You Tube in 2013, Bloom Twins made a double impact on both music and fashion, opening the door to numerous profile pieces in magazines such as Paradigm, Vogue and ID. Soon after, a support slot for Eels at O2 Academy in Liverpool was followed by Iggy’s artist of the week at MTV. 2014 saw numerous releases and videos bringing more attention. Following the release of “Get up, Stand up” the Bloom Twins were featured on BBC NewsNight with Jeremy Paxman and graced pages of broadsheet newspapers such as The Sunday Times, The Guardian, The Daily Mail as well appeared on Simon Lederman's show on BBC Radio London 94.9, Gary Crowley’s and on BBC Introducing.
A period out of the country halted momentum before they made a breakthrough appearance in Unicef’s Imagine campaign alongside Katy Perry and Will.i.am among other heavyweights of music and media.
“I woke up in the ambulance and I was so confused. I couldn’t believe something like that happened to me. I want to thank the members that helped me that day. It’s very overwhelming. I feel like everything is different now. I don’t sweat the small stuff. Basically every day is a win for me because it is a miracle that I am alive,” says Raymond Wasson, 50, who had just finished a bagpipe performance for a Brooklyn Cyclone pre-game ceremony at MCU Park on August 2, 2018 and was walking up a flight of stairs at the stadium when he collapsed to the ground. Three bystanders – Registered Nurses Kelly Ryman O’Malley and Stephanie Donnellan, and Paramedic Robert Lederman from Maimonides Medical Center – raced to his side. They began CPR, administered one shock from a defibrillator, and called 911 for help. FDNY members quickly responded. Paramedics Marvin Zuniga and Anthony Marascia, EMTs Carlos Olivera and Joshua Haber, and Lt. Scott Rothchild of Station 43 arrived to find Mr. Wasson in cardiac arrest. They continued CPR, and during the next pulse check, he was found to have a good strong pulse. The Paramedics established an IV and continued to provide ventilations to Mr. Wasson during transport to NYU Langone Hospital in Brooklyn. When he arrived at the hospital, Mr. Wasson was conscious and alert, with no recollection of the incredible life-saving work that had just taken place. Thanks to the medical professionals both on and off duty who responded in his moment of need, Mr. Wasson is making the most of his second chance. In 2019, Mr. Wasson was reunited with the first responders who saved his life at the 25th annual Second Chance Ceremony in Brooklyn.

The menorah lighting is part of Chabad-Lubavitch's worldwide Hanukkah campaign that includes 15,000 large public menorahs in more than 90 countries around the world, including in front of landmarks such as the White House, the Eiffel Tower, and the Kremlin. The campaign was set into motion by the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, of righteous memory, in 1973.

Rabbi Alperowitz, and his wife, Mussie Alperowitz, announced in November at the International Conference of Chabad-Lubavitch Emissaries that they would be moving to South Dakota, where Rabbi Alperowitz will serve as the states rabbi--the only state without a rabbi or a permanent Chabad-Lubavitch presence. The timing carries added significance as the North American Jewish community marks 75 years since Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, the movement's leader, arrived on U.S. shores from war-torn Europe in 1941.

MUSIC ON SCREEN : la production exécutive de musique de films en Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles.
Avec Renaud Mayeur, Jean-Marc Lederman, Stefan Liberski, Gabriel Alloing, Jean-Yves Roubin et Benjamin Schoos.
Le 21 juin 2017, dans le cadre du "Music District Tour" au centre d'entreprises Pepibru à Bruxelles, Freaksville Publishing présentait la masterclass MUSIC ON SCREEN autour de la production exécutive de musique de films en Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles.
L’importance de la musique à l’image n’est plus à démontrer mais de nombreux enjeux artistiques et économiques en bousculent régulièrement la conception.
Quels sont les challenges ? Comment optimiser la production d’un enregistrement ? Quels sont les budgets et les bourses accordées aux musiques originales ? Comment synchroniser de la musique existante dans des délais rapides ?
Autant de questions auxquelles Renaud Mayeur et Jean-Marc Lederman – compositeurs, Stefan Liberski – auteur et réalisateur, Jean-Yves Roubin – co-président de l’Union des Producteurs Francophones de Films et fondateur de Frakas Productions, et Gabriel Alloing – Music Supervisor chez The Right Music, ont tenté d’esquisser des réponses. Cette rencontre était animée par Benjamin Schoos, producteur, compositeur et Music Supervisor chez Freaksville Records.
Entre ces personnalités, un moment de discussion plutôt rare et instructif sur les différents aspects souvent méconnus de la conception de musiques à l'écran, qu'elle soit originales, adaptées, inspirées d'autres oeuvres (connues mais impayables), voire préfabriquées et disponibles dans de gigantesques catalogues en ligne de "musiques au mètre"…
Il sera question de création, de production, d'administration et de commerce de la musique (à noter : le terme "clearance" - l'obtention des droits d'utilisation de la musique - reviendra à plusieurs reprises lors de la discussion).
Une thématique cruciale qui intéressera à la fois les créateurs et les nombreux métiers impliqués dans le secteur de la musique et du cinéma... Et bien sûr les fans ;)

I recycle cardboard packaging, for example beer or cereal packaging, and cut them to size. Then I hand drew and made my own stamp with all my info for the card (all in blue). For an even more personal touch I hand draw a heart in white ink.
