Mostly interested in the horizontal lines, I was a little lucky with this sytlish motorcyclist passing by, looking straight at me.

This image was taken last Sunday from a quiet road past a farm on Romney marsh I spent a lot of time watching these birds over the last two years and came up with a total of seven little Owls on this one farm . I said in my posts at the time that I was amazed at their indifference to my presence , I think they see me as a little odd but harmless and so I am as a rule just ignored . This year there seem to be 4 adults and 2 youngsters .

Brachaluteres taylori is a small yellow, green to greyish leatherjacket with many fine dark lines and rows of pale spots along the head and body. Juveniles are mostly pale yellow to pale greyish with small dark spots.

Also commonly known as plague soldier beetles, named for the mating masses of thousands that appear at certain times of the year, with the right weather conditions.

This native species is found in temperate southeastern areas of the country. Its grubs live in the soil, feeding on other small creatures.
