Located in the small resort town of Vail, Colorado which attracts a global audience for its skiing and outdoor recreation, Betty Ford Alpine Gardens is the highest elevation botanical garden in the world situated at 8,200’ (2,700 m) in the central Rocky Mountains.
If life challenges you and makes it difficult for you, you are forced to learn and grow. It is precisely these challenges that make us stronger and value life all the more.
We are forced by our surroundings to learn how to swim again and again. You think, you are done, but the waters seem to change, flow in an opposite direction than you expect or even creates maelstroms. The changes to our lives are constant. If you ask me, it is not better for any individual. You think you mastered floating around, but NO, life forces you to change from comfortable breaststroke to a powerful crawl. Do not expect anybody to throw you a life saver. You are on your own, buddy.

I would like to dedicate this stunning image of the Seagull to a friend and a mentor, one of the best in Flickr, Rose N www.flickr.com/photos/rosedew/ for a heart touching testimonial she wrote for me. Being a novice photographer and to have someone like her believing in my work builds up that moral and self confidence. Thank you Rose.
I promise you, this would be the last of my seagulls, for the mean time I know you must be tired looking at them already. They are good birds to practice actions shots. I believe before I can capture the hornets and the eagles I have to learn to shoot the gulls first.
This is what I’ll be missing over the next few days, classic north eastern storm weather. The sea’s are rough at the moment and soon to be very rough, it’s a strain to be sitting here at my desk but it has to be done, it’s a good job I took hundreds last year when I could. Here is one I took back in August at Seaham, I haven’t posted many from this session as I’ve tended to concentrate on my Roker photo’s, which I believe are some of the best I’ve taken to date. I continuing my learning curve with Photoshop and luminosity masks, I’m also starting to see a better mono conversion in Photoshop as well. Lightroom tends to go blotchy when you try to pull out those darker greys with the colour slides, in Photoshop that process seems more subtle. With more time on my hands on late I might as well booster my processing skills as my camera skills are going nowhere. If you have time count the seagulls

First shot out of my new camera. The old one had a issue with holding in the SD card. But a quick call to B&H and a new upgrade was in the mail. Now I need to get it all set up so that I can start to learn how to use it. An amazing camera, but I will have a bit to learn.
