They say: It is always safe to be in a pack? - On Small Town streets, these days, when especially if you are only on two wheels, where life can be like riding a bicycle: long as you just keep pedalling on or you just fall off. - Then only to find that you have got left behind from the pack!
I spotted these Cyclists on a resist visit to Settle Town, which is up in the Yorkshire Dales of England and which looks a cosy way to get around in this small town!
So, keep on pedalling my Flickr friends!
They've come and gone twice in one day! I have seen tens of thousands of followers but have seen the leader!

The Proud Leader
In the calm of an early morning, on water barely moving, one swan stepped forward — quietly, confidently, speaking only with his gaze.
He took the lead, steady and composed, guiding his small white procession as they followed the rhythm of the river.
For a moment, it felt like a gentle ceremony of nature, a ritual revealed only to those who wait long enough for the world to exhale.

A large group of shags (phalacrocorax aristotelis) flying in formation in Norway, with the island of Ringvassøya in the back.
FEC GP40-2 431 leads train 121 south through Dania Beach, FL on their way south to Hialeah, FL.
The train must have ran into issues as 431 was set to lead. It isn't too common to see EMD leaders on road trains so this was a nice treat.
Class leader VIA 900 brings up the rear of VIA 62 as it approaches a vintage signal bridge. It is showing a Limited to Clear signal for VIA 62, which will bring it to the South Track, with CN 149 coming on the North Track.
Pride leaders pay a heavy price for their position as is evident from this battle-scarred warrior. I watched an older lion, too weak to join the food fest after a kill, still play a dominant role when it came time to bring down a big bull buffalo. It still went out to challenge another younger and stronger looking male encroaching on the pride’s turf. The photographer part of me wanted to photograph a fight but my tender side wanted the pride leader to live to fight another day. There’s nothing like lions to bring out emotions. As mentioned in an earlier posting, Hubbard Pond and its surroundings are under consideration as the site for a heavy industrial type facility by the Regents of the University of Michigan. If the project goes forward, another piece of the critical natural habitat necessary to sustain these and other vulnerable creatures will be lost forever.
UPDATE: In a 12 March 2016 letter, the President of the University of Michigan indicates the proposed heavy industrial project for this site has been "paused". Plus, all applications for various construction permits are suspended and no construction contracts have been awarded.
While this turn of events appears positive, all it takes is a whim to re-activate the project. Until the final determination is STOP, the possibility of this easily preventable man-made disaster remains. Now is the time to stand-up. Mother Nature needs your voice.

Spring greens are beginning to pop as a westbound CSX train with a fairly clean leader rolls under the New York Central signal bridge at QD 103 on the Erie West Sub in Lake City, PA on a beautiful May afternoon.
A foreign leader on the Norfolk Southern Pittsburgh Line is a rare sight now a days. I was ecstatic to see a CSX GEVO parked at the WYE on the Buffalo Line (where the bare tables are snaking off of just beyond the signals) and even more thrilled that it got a signal down to the fuel pad while I had time to grab it.
The train is 24V and the bare tables came out of New York the evening prior.
A Thirteen-Lined Ground Squirrel (Spermophilus tridecemlineatus) poses perfectly to display the markings which give the species its name. This little creature was observed along a gravel road on the prairie landscape near Leader, Saskatchewan, Canada.

What a treat this morning to see the first signets of the year at Sudbury Water Meadow. This location is one of my local haunts and never fails to deliver photographic opportunities.
Nothing gives me more joy than seeing CSX pumpkin units being used in ways they weren't intended to be. George Cheatwood shot this R409 at Akron on August 30th 1999 with the correct leader. JL Sessa collection.
