The Proud Leader

In the calm of an early morning, on water barely moving, one swan stepped forward — quietly, confidently, speaking only with his gaze.

He took the lead, steady and composed, guiding his small white procession as they followed the rhythm of the river.

For a moment, it felt like a gentle ceremony of nature, a ritual revealed only to those who wait long enough for the world to exhale.

Ponosni predvodnik

Not the shot or location I wanted, but it works. Q217-06 with CSX ST70AH 8900 rolls down the CSX Philadelphia sub in the early afternoon sun. Here they are going from the main to track one as the close in on Bayview yard in Baltimore, MD.

That relocated headlight lets you know the leader on Norfolk Southern's train 290 wasn't always a thoroughbred. NS 3553 was built in 1979 for the Burlington Northern; BNSF sold it as surplus at the turn of the Century. Helm Financial had it in leasing service until 2013 when Norfolk Southern bought it and others to add to their fleet.

SSR’s P17 leads a single BGKF grain wagon and retired Comeng cars 301M-1001T-302M 303M-1002T-304M with T381 trailing to Bendigo at Clarkefield. The grain wagon was going for repairs, the Comeng sets are to be scrapped. The units were heavily vandalised whilst in storage at North Shore yard since August, with large amounts of graffiti and numerous smashed windows. One of the cars was even set on fire, which prompted security to be hired 24/7 to watch over the trains. 301M is the class leader of the Comeng sets. Built from 1981, 187 three car Comeng sets were built by Commonwealth Engineering. They are now progressively being retired, with the oldest ones going first and the last will be retired around 2026. Victorian era buildings on Colborne Street, between Church Street and Leader Lane

Colborne Street is a street running several hundred metres east of Yonge Street in downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It crosses Victoria Street and Leader Lane, ending at Church Street. It is located between and parallel to King Street East and Wellington Street East. The street is notable for retaining several historic buildings built during the reign of Queen Victoria.[1]

In 1822 a two-storey building, Masonic Hall, with a cupola was built on what is now Colborne Street.[2]

The 15 storey Trader’s Bank Building at the corner of Colborne and Yonge streets was the tallest building in the British Empire when it was built in 1906 191

With the Main Channel acting as more or less a runway, NYK Line's Aphrodite Leader has center frame on it's way through San Pedro's Waterfront. The ship has just been turned and burned on a quick tour of the West Coast of the United States. Arriving from Richmond, California earlier in the morning the ship is now sailing back to Japan to start rounding up another shipload of imports.

Off to the right filling in some of the frame is the Ever Future unloading at Everport "TICTF South". As well as part of a Cruise Ship at World Cruise and a very thin profile of the USS Iowa at it's home at Berth 87.

These American white pelicans (Pelecanus erythrorhynchos) seemed to be playing follow the leader across Lake Springfield from my vantage point. Let's hope they are prepared for tomorrow's brutal winter storm.

Another trip out with the big camera and the small drone! Looking towards Bridlington from Fraisthorpe.

At the time, a C40-8 leading an intermodal train wasn't a big deal, but I'm glad I have this photo now. CSX #7492 was one of a small handful of C40-8s conveyed from Conrail, whom had only 25 of the type. CSX did very little to change the appearance of any of its ex CR power, even leaving the red marker lights intact. #7492 is shown here leading intermodal Q148 east across the NS diamonds in Fostoria on a sunny September morning back in 2010.

The vehicles carrier Aquarius Leader [IMO 9158276/MMSI 354370000] was photographed on January 13, 2015 departing her berth at the common user berth, H Berth at Fremantle Port. Her next port of call was Singapore.

The Panamanian flagged Aquarius Leader is an older vehicles carrier as the photo shows. She was built in 1998 and has a gross tonnage of 57,623 tonnes. Her car units capacity is unknown as NYK Line do not show her as being part of the fleet even though her funnel mark identifies her as a NYK Line ship. She is managed out of the Japan by NYK Lines and her beneficial owner is the Japanese company, NYK Line.

The Golden Spectral of Leadership

Leaders require their followers to possess three essential qualities: competence, reliability, and moral goodness. Those who fail to demonstrate these traits cannot gain their leaders' trust. However, when followers exhibit these qualities, they establish a foundation of trust that enables their leaders to pursue ambitious goals, make dreams a reality, and inspire others.

I have a love hate relationship with self-portraits. On the one hand it is challenging and sometimes frustrating to get the focus, composition, and pose right. But on the other hand, taking a self portrait allows me to create in a quiet way all on my own. I don't have to worry about failing or looking silly. I can just create.
