I spotted these Cyclists on a resist visit to Settle Town, which is up in the Yorkshire Dales of England and which looks a cosy way to get around in this small town!

They've come and gone twice in one day! I have seen tens of thousands of followers but have seen the leader!

A large group of shags (phalacrocorax aristotelis) flying in formation in Norway, with the island of Ringvassøya in the back.
FEC GP40-2 431 leads train 121 south through Dania Beach, FL on their way south to Hialeah, FL.
The train must have ran into issues as 431 was set to lead. It isn't too common to see EMD leaders on road trains so this was a nice treat.
Class leader VIA 900 brings up the rear of VIA 62 as it approaches a vintage signal bridge. It is showing a Limited to Clear signal for VIA 62, which will bring it to the South Track, with CN 149 coming on the North Track.
That relocated headlight lets you know the leader on Norfolk Southern's train 290 wasn't always a thoroughbred. NS 3553 was built in 1979 for the Burlington Northern; BNSF sold it as surplus at the turn of the Century. Helm Financial had it in leasing service until 2013 when Norfolk Southern bought it and others to add to their fleet.

When I saw WE 701 leading in a text I thought it was a typo and a digit had been dropped from a 7000 series SD40-2, but it was in fact one of Wheeling's handful of GP40-3's on the point of this day's 237 Brewster to CSX Willard train. Former Rio Grande 3087 has 'em rolling right along on the CSX high iron past the New London reservoir. CSX has a work zone set up to protect the culvert work being done in the right side of this view. This is the first time I've ever seen a 4 axle leader on the CSX interchange job or really on anything west of Spencer in recent history. 10/26/2025
While driving east from Harrisburg, we pulled off at Annville for reasons lost to time and immediately heard a loud RS3L in the distance. Within a few seconds, we saw 21M barreling on our position with two Conrail SD50s leading an SD70M-2. At this time the blue SD50s were still fairly common as cab signal leaders for ethanol trains and the 20G, but this is the only time I ever shot one on 21M, one of the hottest trains on the railroad. The 5416 received an unusual lettering scheme in its final Conrail livery, with small "Conrail" letttering and a smaller-than-usual side logo.

The disaster that was my Michigan City trip ended with just watching the Metra rush at CP Morgan, hoping for a heritage unit to show up... no dice...
Plenty of F59 leaders and doubleheaders tho. Metra 77 takes an MD-W doubleheader under the signal bridge at CP Morgan

The vehicles carrier, Pisces Leader [IMO 9676876] on approach to Fremantle Harbour on December 16, 2015. Her previous port was Port Adelaide and once she has discharged her cargo via Patrick Stevedores operated No. 11 NQ berth will continue on to Singapore. She was built at the Shin Kurushima Onshi shipyard in Japan in 2014.

A westbound coal load was curving through Otis behind a nice clean SD70ACe which was numbered one above the absolutely moronic "Bar Code". The fact that stupids actually care about the 1111 says volumes about the state of foamers.
Some remaining autumn foliage was clinging to the trees on the former Conrail Chicago Line on a sunny afternoon in Hoosier Land.

Much-anticipated ethanol loads roll south on the P&W behind the correct leader. A lot of Stop & Protects meant it took them over two hours to cover the ~15 miles from Worcester.

Just after sunset, Canadian National train 348 rolled through Lake Villa on the Waukesha Subdivision in 2003.
Aided by a Union Pacific C40-8W, former Grand Trunk Western GP9R 4627 was a rare leader at the time on a road freight. It's nifty Nathan M3 horn echoing throughout the area. It was a wonderful thing.
