“Take two things that do not fit together, and put them together.
— Klaus Pichler”
Saw this on my way to work one day, brought my camera the next day...luckily it was still there ;)
I've been saving this one for ages....just for this weeks theme !!
(no, it's not snowing here today...this was taken In the winter) though I wouldn't put it past Mother Nature ! lol
32/100x ~have a seat~
We came across this abandoned farmhouse surrounded by the remains of a picket fence down a lonely central Illinois backroad. It was a walkaway-it was full of personal belongings that are slowly turning into moldy garbage as the house decays. It was pretty precarious going getting into this mess, but fellow explorer Aces & Eights did the duty and reported back to me as I kept watch outside, first aid kit close by.He noticed a curious scene in the kitchen-an old Lazyboy recliner next to a garbage can full of Smirnoff bottles(not sure the flavor, that may make a difference?).Why worry about the property when you can relax and have a cold Smirnoff...?
Of course if it would have been Blue Moon bottles and a whole bunch of orange peels,I would have totally understood....
Also, there was also something about cats, but that's a whole different story...
Have a great fence Friday, and for goodness sake,be careful what you drink! LOL
This is the Lockheed D-21 reconnaissance drone on display at the March Field Air Museum. I'm working on a design to mount my LazyBoy to the top and go for a ride.
Just to prove I can actually get my indolent catflap out of bed earlier than 10am...here's sunrise on Carabassi beach near Alicante.
I thought at first that the horizon was a bit wonky but it's the curvature of the earth.

So my buddy and fellow photographer, David Gregg Man in the Road, and I went up to the highest point in Orange County, Santiago Peak. Though not extremely high in altitude (only about 5,700 feet) we were able to see all of OC, the Inland Empire and south along the ridge of the Saddleback mountain range. A nice off-road experience. The last shot I ever expected to get on a Jeep trip to this point was this. It was a lazyboy recliner on the roof of one of the substation towers. With the altitude and nothing visible beyond the roof line it made for a unique photo. I had to wait until that little cloud made it perfectly into position but, on a beautiful Spring day in Southern California that was pretty effortless.
I've been going through old photos, trying to get some order
in the chaos. Sometimes when I look at them I see stuff
I can't remember having or I see something that I no longer have
and then I puzzle over where it is ... did I give it away ?
nah, I would never give something that cool away ... but if I have it still, where is it ?
Then I have to get up and search for it and then I find other stuff ...
This was our family room thirteen years ago and it is still the same - sorta -
the records now have a cabinet and maybe we have a bigger tv ?
And we have new Lazyboys, these old ones now reside
on my brother-in-law's deck and they are very popular with the codgers he hangs out with :)

“Nothing is more memorable than a smell. One scent can be unexpected, momentary and fleeting, yet conjure up a childhood summer beside a lake in the mountains...”

If there ever was a contest for the best looking dinner train, this would be my entry. On the head end was a beautiful E9, the 10C, leading a four car train that included two domes and a dome observation. Painted in a classy deep blue and rich gold, this train was a delight to see. Living in West Bend at the time, chasing this train was an easy thing to do. And it also was a great way to unwind after a head banger of a day on the D&H North End 1st trick. It sure beat falling into the LazyBoy and staying there until bed time. Here, the 10C is headed west with a train load of happy diners at Rubicon, WI. Nope, this is NOT that Rubicon that Jeep made famous.

Little did I know years ago when I bought this sofa with the comfy recliners on each end that one day this adorable little kitty named Frodo would wander into our lives and home, and then take over my end of the sofa. He's the ultimate Lazy Boy!
But one look at his sweet face, so happy and content, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Retired Time Traveller Dr. Cyber sits in his jammies pondering what happened to Timmy, his sidekick and faithful friend. While relaxing in his hypno lazyboy, a time vortex appeared momentarily. It dropped a note. IT'S TIMMY, HELP US! 2089. Dr Cyber's daughter, Dr. Alicia Cyber, now takes the mantle of TIME CRUISERS... to find Timmy and save the universe.

Recipe for a perfect shoot:
4 AM Husband wakes you up. You are dozing in his Lazyboy chair. You are still in your clothes from the night before. "Why didn't you come to bed?"
4:02 AM "I couldn't sleep," I say. Struggle to wake up.
4:20 AM Put in eye drops. Fresh deodorant. Pack gear. Get coffee that husband nicely set up the night before. Stare bleary-eyed at the darkness outside, and the sky just beginning to light up. Wonder if new friend, Carolyn, will make the appointment
4:45 AM Pack car. Grab Blackberry and iPod. Bottle of water. Parka. Scarf. All the things that matter. Disturb sleeping husband while trying to find Blackberry.
4:50 AM Arrive in grocery store parking lot. Roll down window. Wait.
5:05 AM Watch Carolyn pull up. "Wanna take my car? " she says. "I probably have the most gear." She doesn't know me very well; I don't ride well with others. "No, my car," I say. "I''ll drive."
5:10 AM Hit the Whitemud Freeway, turn onto Anthony Henday Drive. Touch the gas pedal a little harder. I am free. The morning light is beginning to break.
5:15 AM Detour around a terrible bike vs. car accident. An orange tarpaulin held down by weights covers the dead body of the cyclist (we don't know this until much later). We just see police cars everywhere. But they aren't blocking the roadway to our destination, so we pass by.
5:25 AM Arrive at a dead end road. I found this place before, and knew I would be back to shoot here. A lake is in the distance, shrouded in heavy mist. A pathway, a forest, a yellow gate with a sign that threatens Trespassers. A marshland filled with wet foliage. We grab our gear and jump the low metal railing.
5:30 AM The plants are nearly up to our chins. We are both short. Pants, shoes, jackets -- everything is getting wet. But the light is changing, and we are in a hurry to set up.
5:32 AM Take first shots. Then move. I discover much later that the move (with my lens cap off) was my undoing.
5:55 AM Sun rises through a deep haze. We switch to another vantage point.
6:30 AM Absently-mindedly check my lens. It is covered with spots of mist and pollen. Swear and clean lens. Start again.
7:00 AM Try to pack up gear, realize the light has changed, and shoot again. See spider webs that have appeared because the angle of the light has changed. Shoot some snowball dandelions.
7:30 AM Pack gear back into car. Head to local casino for breakfast.
8:45 AM Take Carolyn to grocery store parking lot, back to her car. Drive home.
9:10 AM Check Flickr. Check images. Curse at lens debris that has ruined a hundred images. Nod off.
