Found this angel statue sitting on this red chair in the middle of a large farm house lawn ...I could not resist this beautiful opportunity.

Flamingos can be seen in Florida, but mostly they are migrating from the Yucatan Peninsula, or in zoos. Once Europeans settled here, the flamingo population went into decline, and from what I've read, they no longer breed here.
This lovely bird is one of the residents of the Brevard Zoo in Melbourne, FL. I removed the blue tag from its leg so it would appear more "wild". There were several flamingos on view at this zoo, and the range of coloration was from a pale pink almost white, to bright coral. Flamingo feathers obtain their wonderful color from pigments in the organisms they eat. The flamingos' feathers, legs, and face receive their coloration from their diet, which is high in alpha and beta carotenoid pigments.
The sun was out yesterday afternoon so I thought I'd spend some time kneeling on the lawn. Aaaah, the wet knees.
I really ought to mow the lawn but the daisy are just looking great.
A masked lapwing landed in our front lawn today! I am hoping they will be nesting somewhere nearby and bring the young ones
We often hear the Flickers calling to each other high up in the trees behind our house. I tried to capture a good image of them but they stay pretty hidden among the branches up high. Then a couple of days ago, I saw this bird digging away with his beak at a neighbours lawn. It was a perfect opportunity to get a clear shot of the Flicker. Then I googled some info about these birds and it turns out they feed mainly on the ground. They love ants and beetles! He can have all the ants he wants from our lawn!
I took this photo of my lawn just to show how beautifully green it is in the light of late afternoon sun!. I've been busy re-sodding, fertilizing and mowing as you can see. Isn't my grass beautiful? Oh, if you look closely you'll see that there's also a very nosey dog in the photo, too. That's Lucy. She always has to know what I'm doing.
Some sort of fencing meeting on the front lawn at Burghley House.

A grasshopper on sandstone. Nottinghamshire, UK. From a quick bit of online research, I believe it is a Field Grasshopper (Chorthippus brunneus), but if anyone knows better, please let me know! :)

For the enthusiasts out there, the car appears to be a 1949 Nash Ambassador and the aircraft is a 404 Martin passenger plane whose last function was as a part of the Pro-Air fleet.
Lawn Grass detail for the Looking Close... On Friday challenge: A single blade of grass. Happy Friday!
A surreal day, kingfishers followed by a nice lady letting lots of people into her living room to take pictures of a hoopoe in her back garden. Through glass, but she had impressively clean windows. A very nice lady.
