Well I reposted this shot for a number of reasons ...
.... first ... I had the pleasure of winning first place in the "Streetscapes" category in the recent Capture Oakville 2009 competition with this image ...
... secondly ... I have been very busy framing a collection of shots from my Night Moves series which will be exhibited at the Williams Coffee Pub at Trafalgar & Dundas here in Oakville, this image makes up one of my approximately 20 framed shots that will be on display at Williams ...
... thirdly ... I have just finished my first publicly available book through Blurb, entitled "Night Moves Volume I" which highlights the images on display during this upcoming exhibit. The link to the book ... www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/963512

On the move .... Night Moves
Quite pleased with how this shot turned out considering it was very low light and was shot at a shutter speed of 1/30th.
What is it about LaundrOmats that always draws my attention to them ? i always seem to enjoy taking a shot of them, lots of character I guess??????

It seems that as I go through my collection of shots, a common theme starts popping up ... I am obviously drawn and fascinated by the good old Laundr-O-mat.
I have been going through some shots that I haven't posted yet and found a few related to this theme that I have passed over, I think I will have to resurrect them and start a new series dedicated to this subject.
I'm still trying to figure out what draws me to these places?

I have reposted this image as I was recently approached by the Oakville Community Foundation to use some of my images of Oakville in the recent Vital Signs 2009 report.
The OCF connects donors to community needs and opportunities and helps them invest in building strong and resilient places to live, learn, work and play.
The Vital Signs report is published "...to raise urgent and critical awareness of key areas in our community. From housing to learning, from health to the environment, we looked at the gaps and trends which affect our citizens. Vital Signs 2008 was used as a tool by a number of organizations throughout our Town – from budget and strategic planning, to building a case for support for local charities. Individuals also used Vital Signs as a conversation starter and to plan for their family’s charitable priorities."

Part of my Night Moves series, I don't know what it is about laundromats at night, but something draws me to snapping shots of them.
Is it the lighting? The people?

I also posted a shot I took with my Canon digital below of the same subject, click on my TAG "Laundr-O-Mat Project" to see my other shots.
A continuation of my experimentation shooting and developing my first role of Fuji Neopan 1600 in the Olympus OM-2Sp.
Developed the Neopan in TMAX developer @ 20'C for 4.5 minutes with one minute continuous agitation with 5 sec agitation on the minute thereafter. Scanned on Epson V500, unaltered.
How do you think the Neopan performed?
