I love the desert best in the late afternoon when the sun is starting to go down. These dunes are just beyond Merzouga close to the Algerian/Moroccan border.

From a prior year. Glacier Lilies bloom in profusion here in places that will be shady after leaf out. They are a month behind schedule here this year because of record snow depths and a cool spring.

The admiral butterfly or number butterfly atalanta is one of the most striking butterflies in Belgium and the Netherlands. In Northern Europe it is one of the last butterflies to be seen before winter sets in. In the south, the butterfly also flies on sunny winter days !!
A beautiful morning at Lake Wägital. This is a well known fishing lake, but now the season is over and the last boats will soon be pulled ashore.

To complete our visit to Stanley we return to where we began with those dawn shots of The Nut. Here it is in the late afternoon. Everything is so green because of all the recent rain. It's hard to imagine what this scene might have looked like millions of years ago when the volcano was still active.
When someone does not obtain success with their interests, talents, or personality until later in their lives, we say they are a late bloomer.
These flowers are blooming late due to the longer winter.

This is Lake Kapowsin, as viewed from Orville Road in Kapowsin, Washington. We've driven by here a number of times, but never stopped for pics. I like how the late afternoon shadows and colors of evening reflect nicely on the lake! Hope you enjoy!
