Op woensdag 6 oktober kreeg ik niet één maar twee Eurostartreinen voor de lens. Waar die gedurende de middag mooi op tijd in Rebecq werd opgewacht, was het eigenlijk puur toeval dat ik er ‘s ochtends een zag terwijl ik een nieuw fotopunt aan het verkennen was in Silly
Het was enkel door vertraging van de eerste rit vanuit London dat ik tussen de Thalys en een (ook te laat rijdende) TGV ineens het gekende geluid van een e300 kon opmerken en naar me toe zag komen.
Op de website van Eurostar stond er bij deze rit “schade aan het materieel”: dat zal wel want in principe rijdt deze door naar Amsterdam en dat kan natuurlijk enkel met een Velaro UK.
Nou, geen straf voor mij want het was ondertussen al bijna drie jaar geleden dat ik nog eens een oude Eurostar voor de lens heb gekregen.

On Wednesday the 6th of October, thanks to a heavy delay of the first Eurostar that connect the British and the Belgian capital, I was able to make another picture of an e300 EMU - the lasttime I saw an old Eurostar was already almost three years ago!
The website of Eurostar stated that this train was delayed because of “damage of the train”. That was clear, because this train normally runs to Amsterdam, which is only possible using a Velaro UK.

A few months later he died from Parkinsons Disease and old age . I think he knew this was the last snow he would see . He stood for a long time on this bridge just looking at the snow coming down.
He was a great Amateur Photographer developing his own pictures in our bathroom also known as his dark room . Its thanks to his interest that i am taking images today. R.I.P. Dad.

The Swainson Hawks I truly enjoy often leave for points south early in September. This may be the last time I see them this year. I'll keep watching until it's obvious they have left.
I was trying to remember the last time I wore this watch.
Now days, the only time I wear a watch is when I go for a run. It seems redundant to me to wear a watch when I'm carrying my cell phone around. The clock on the cell phone is much more accurate, having to sync with an atomic clock so that the GPS can function accurately. I only wish that there was a large analog clock face with a sweep second hand on the phone so I could accurately set all of our appliance clocks.

We climbed Mount Sinaï before sunrise (a long with 100 camels and even more Russians, argh) but got rewarded with spectaculair vies from Mount Sinaï (the famous one where Moses collected the 10 commandments).

Camping on a granite outcropping on Spicer Meadows Reservoir in the Sierra Nevada mountains. We had planned on watching the Perseids meteor showers, but instead got a thunderstorm, clouds, and a double rainbow.
I'm not sure if it was a privelage or not, my last job of the day was to be tech support on 373003/373004s last ever run under their own power. The driver who tripped. the set from TMI was the same driver who drove this set on the royal run to open the tunnel. From here the set was shut down and hauled unceromoniously to the scrapyard to await their fate. Unedited image from a Microsoft Lumina 1020 cameraphone. Exif info misidentified the phone.

Four years ago. You left to never return. I remember when the phone rang early that morning and my sister told me how you had passed away. I cried bitter tears. I still do. Its hard to believe that I will not see you again when I'll come to visit home. It's strange. Time goes by, yet the emptiness, the sadness, the pain never leaves us. I wished I had one more chance to say how much i loved you, to tell you how special you were to me, (not that I haven't said that before), but it would have been easier for me to say one last goodbye. I thought about you all day. The sweetness of your voice embraced me and made me miss you more and more. How I wish you were here!!!

A small thing today, but feeling emotional when I think that this will be the last day that I watch for the school bus to bring home my children from this direction. Tomorrow, Connor graduates from elementary school.
Decision made to take our sweet Millie for a final ride - this time to the vet to say our Goodbyes - I noticed this reflection and took a quick shot with my cell phone. What I didn't know at that moment is our car where Millie was just put in was not going to start. Dead battery. So we loaded up into the old Ford Ranger. Millie was in the middle and I was able to hold her close on the short three mile trip to the vet. Turned out to be a special moment. I will remember those last several hugs for a long long time.
I'm moving far away soon, so I wanted to see what difference that makes to the pictures I take of places familiar to me, visiting possibly for the last time. This is Claydon House at Middle Claydon, Buckinghamshire, former home of Florence Nightingale - celebrated nurse and statistician - who popularised the use of the pie chart. It leads me to take classic images the like of which I had for some years eschewed, it would seem. How very quaint to have your own church!
