The title of the photo is a line from the Jimmy Van Heusen and Johnny Mercer song "I Thought About You".
Early winter on a late pewter light afternoon...the aged maples are spreading their skeletal branches once again. I have revisited this farm lane many times this past year only to discover new nuances of beauty and a lasting serenity like none other. The terrain is high here and the wind sweeps across the farmland with a pulsating rhythm and audible breathe. Birds scurry and abandon themselves to flight while the crisp air clings to the lungs and sheds aromas of seasonal earthiness. Ashfield, MA

Everywhere in the small village around Monet's home were flower lined lanes. Everyone was into making this area a tribute to Monet and his gardens. The whole village is a garden.

This was taken on a trip to London a few weeks back. The architecture around the South Bank is obviously very popular with photographers but I found some of the side streets to be worthy of a little wander too (EM120187)

This is a new development that creates a lane through a series of railway arches built in the 1860’s to extend the railway over the Thames to Cannon St Station. The spaces between the arches have been filled with retail shops.

"Bloody Lane" on the Antietam (Sharpsburg) battlefield. On September 17th, 1862 fierce fighting as Confederates had the advantage of the lane holding back a Union advance until the famous Iron Brigade turned the tables causing the slaughter of the Confederates trapped in the Sunken Road or "Bloody Lane."
I never know where the light will lead me, I just follow and try to capture the scene as it was at that moment. I was not surprised at how light and fog can change a simple road into something from a dream. On this morning the light was darkened by the thick fog creating an eerie world of mystery. I found this small lane off a side road. When the unexpected happens, we must be ready.
Shot of one of the many paths and lanes that criss cross the beautiful Moss Valley, on the Derbyshire / South Yorkshire border... its a sad thought that this whole area could soon be in the hands of Fracking Contractors

This delightful country lane runs from near Brixworth to the north of the county and the area where the Battle of Naseby took place in 1645. It was the decisive battle of the English Civil War. On the way the lane runs through the Cottesbrooke Estate, which is based around the beautiful Cottesbrooke Hall, built in the time of Queen Anne.
